‘친 사회적’ 사이코패스 안 님께,
있어도 그만 없어도 그만인 같잖은 것들도 함께 숨 쉬고 있는 이 세상, 그들이 내뿜는 기분 나쁜 숨이 제게 닿는 것을 조금이라도 막기 위해 오늘도 어김없이 아침 일찍 일어났습니다. 일 층으로 내려와 에스프레소 머신의 버튼을 누르고 물이 데워지는 동안 어떤 방법으로 죽어가는 버러지 같은 것들에게 가르침을 줄까 궁리를 해봅니다. 이 작업에는 온종일 철저한 계획을 세우는 것이 필요합니다. 법이란 것은 우리 같은 사람들이 상당히 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 구성된 것이기 때문에, 만만하게 봐서는 안 됩니다. 요즘 들어 우리 같은 사람들이 아닌 버러지 같은 것들이 권력을 잡고, 특별법이다 개정안이다 더럽히고 있지만 다행인지 불행인지 아직은 본질을 흐리지는 못했습니다. 그래서 자칫하다가는 감정에 휘둘려 본인의 행동조차 조절할 수 없어 징징대는 저것들과 똑같은 인간이 되어버릴 수 있습니다. 감정에 휘둘려 뭐가 좋은 것인지도 모르는 벌레들에게 벌레 취급을 받는 것을 나는 원하지 않습니다.
본인들조차 이유를 모르는 감정들이, 안면근육이나 몸의 꿈틀거림으로 표현되는 꼴을 적당한 어둠이 덮어줄 때, 전 밖으로 나갑니다. 제가 가장 혐오하는 절차입니다. 벌레들이 길에 너무 많아서 고를 수도 없을 지경입니다. 무지하고 무식한 것들, 그들이 이 세상에 남기는 것은 찌꺼기 밖에 없습니다. 그러나 이들은 그 사실을 모릅니다. 진실을 외면한 채, 척으로 무장하고 거릴 활보합니다. 전 그 점이 유독 화가 납니다.

그중 제일 평범해 보이는 사람으로 한 명을 이끌고 왔습니다. 차별주의는 없어져야 하는 거 아니겠습니까?
저만 그런 건지는 모르겠습니다만, 미디어에서 말하는 것 처럼 이상한 방법으로 유인하거나 힘을 쓰지 않아도 저한텐 지극히 일반적인 사람을 자발적으로 이곳까지 찾아오도록 만드는 것이 너무나도 쉽습니다. 약자들만 타겟삼는 인간들이 진짜 사이코패스가 맞는지 의문입니다.
이야기가 나와서 말인데, 안님께서는 사람들이 만든 영화나 드라마들을 어떻게 생각하십니까? 말뿐인 사이코패스, 실제 사이코패스가 가진 능력의 10%도 표현하지 못했다고 생각하지는 않으십니까? 보면 한심할 따름입니다. 제대로 알지도 못하면서 상상의 나래를 펼치며 자기들끼리 즐거워하는 꼴 하고는. 우리는 사회적으로 살아가기 위해서 다수인 그들을 이해해야 합니다. 그래서 그들의 입장에서 생각을 합니다. 그런데 그들은 항상 우리의 다른 점을 궁금해하면서도, 본인들의 사고관에서 벗어나질 못하고 있지 않습니까?
솔직히 이렇게 한 명 한 명 상대해야 한다는 사실이 참으로 안타깝습니다. 하지만 이렇게라도 하지 않으면 세상은 변하지 않습니다. 이렇게 기반을 다져서 더 효율적인 시스템을 구축하는 것이 저의 궁극적인 목표입니다.

감겨 있는 눈에 플래시를 가져다 켜니 눈이 부신지 얼굴을 찡그립니다. 정신이 슬슬 돌아오는 것을 보니 작업을 시작해도 좋겠습니다. 사실 잠자듯 보내주는 것이 제일 편합니다. 작업하다 보면 이 자의 흔적이 여기저기 남을 수밖에 없게 되고, 어디서 굴러먹던 인간인지 알 수가 없으니 참으로 더럽고 비위가 상합니다. 대부분의 인간은 나처럼 정갈한 삶을 살진 않으니까요. 화장실에 다녀와서 손도 안 씻고 이것저것을 만지며 음식도 집어 먹는 인간들이 수두룩하다고 들었습니다. 그러면서 남들 앞에선 씻은 척, 깨끗한 척하지요. 제 가족이나 친구들만 봐도 그렇습니다.
그러니까 약을 쓰면 더러운 꼴 안 봐도 된다는 말입니다. 하지만 이 자도 인생에 유의미한 무언가를 가지고 죽어야 하지 않겠습니까?
공포가 이 자의 얼굴을 뒤덮습니다. 이로써 이유 있는 감정이란 무엇인지 깨달았겠지요. 이 자에겐 이게 처음으로 감정, 인지, 표현이 일치된, 그런 일생일대의 사건일 것입니다. 이 자 또한 다른 인간들처럼 감정이란 게 무엇인지도 모르면서 자신의 감정을 알아달라 시끄럽게 굴며 일생을 살아왔을 것이 분명합니다.
인간이 본질을 볼 수 없으면 짐승과 마찬가지입니다. 짐승은 귀엽기라도 하지요. 인간들의 행위에는 대부분 본질이 없습니다. 어디서 본질에 따른 행위만 배워서는 본질이 있는 척합니다. 그러다가 착각에 빠져 피해를 줍니다. 주제를 모르는 이들의 삶은 죽음과 다를 게 없습니다. 그렇다면 에너지 절약과 자연보호를 위해서 없어지는 편이 낫지 않겠습니까?

작업을 마친 후 다시 글을 적습니다. 안님, 저는 안님께서 저와 같은 부류라는 것을 인정합니다. 사이코패스적 기질 보유자 말입니다. 다만 저는 당신이 왜 그렇게 사회적인 도덕을 중요하게 생각하는지는 이해할 수 없습니다. 하지만 다른 인간들처럼, 기질이 같더라도 신념이나 취향은 다를 수 있으니까요. 그러니 안님께서 중요하게 생각하는 그 부분에 대해서는 더 이상 말을 하지 않겠습니다. 그냥 저와 같은 정서를 가지고 있는 사람과 소통하는 것에서 오는 느낌을 즐기겠습니다.
하지만 정말로 저라면 그렇게 살지 않을 겁니다. 저는 어떤 인간들은 죽어 마땅하다고 생각합니다. 그리고 사회적 도덕을 지키는 게 죽어 마땅한 인간을 보호한다면, 그건 더 나은 세상을 위하여 무시당해야 한다고 생각합니다.
안님께서도 아시겠지만, 그래서 힘드시겠지만 (같은 부류의 사람으로서 참으로 유감입니다), 이미 생각이 굳어진 버러지를 교육하는 것은 힘든 일입니다. 죽어 마땅한 인간들을 살아 마땅한 사람들로 바꾸는 건 교육으로 될 문제가 아니라고요. 그들은 짐승처럼 훈련해야 합니다. 그런데 자기가 인간이 아니라 사람인 줄 아는 주제를 모르는 것들은 훈련조차 불가능합니다. 그럼 어쩌겠습니까. 누구 하나 물기 전에 없애 버리는 게 낫지 않겠습니까?
안님께서 더 나은 세상을 위해 노력하는 것 잘 압니다. 저도 목적은 같습니다. 그냥 방식이 다를 뿐이에요.
아, 안님께서 항상 강조하시는 생명의 존엄성이라는 거 있지 않습니까. 그건 그걸 아는 사람에게나 적용해야 합당한 거 아닙니까? 보통 인간들은 그런 거에 대해서 생각조차 해본 적 없이 살아갑니다. 그러니 그것이 중요한지 따질 수조차 없을 겁니다. 뭐, 지식적으로 아는 사람은 많이 있겠지요. 그렇지만 그것이 신념에 포함돼 삶에 적용시키는 것은 별개의 문제입니다. 세상을 보십시오. 증거입니다. 그것은 안님께서도 잘 알고 계시지 않습니까? 그래서 사회에 물의를 일으키는 거고요. 시대의 소음이 되는 겁니다.
만약 경찰이 날 찾아낸다면 스턴 박사가 날 사이코패스라 진단하겠지요? 그럼 역시 사이코패스들은 타고난 살인마들이라며 더 고립될 테지요. 안님이나 안님과 같은 방식을 선택하여 지킬 것 지키며 살아가는 사이코패스들한테는 미안한 마음이 있긴 합니다. 하지만 저는 안님께서 고려할 가치조차 없는 것들을 중요하시기에 효율적인 방식을 보지 못하시는 거로 생각합니다. 전 그렇게 믿어요.
안님께서 제 편지를 읽고 어떻게 반응을 하실지 참으로 궁금합니다.

For Those of You Who Are Very Humane Psychopaths

Dear Ahn, the pro-psychopath,
As this world contains the coexistence between the maggots, which matter very little, whether they continue to exist or not, and us, I woke up early this morning, as usual, hoping to prevent the unpleasant breath of useless people from touching my skin. Once I come down to the first floor and press a button on an espresso machine. Then, I thoroughly think about how to properly give a lesson to those dying useless maggots while the water gets boiled. I need a concrete plan and usually spend the whole day. The laws have been designed by people like you and me for quite a long time, so it should not be taken lightly. Well, these days, maggots took all the legislative power and created stupid regulations, but, luckily or not, they cannot fully desecrate the essence yet. Anyway, that’s why I should be careful otherwise I might be considered one of them who cannot control their behaviors because of their emotions. I’d rather die if I am treated as a maggot by the real maggots. They are always carried away by their emotions and cannot recognize key points in every situation.
When the darkness starts to cover people’s emotions expressed by their facial muscles or wriggling movements from the body cluelessly, it is time for me to go out. The maggots do not even realize what they are feeling and why. I hate to be out. This is the part that I hate the most. They are everywhere, and it is hard to pick just one. The barbaric ignorant… What they leave in this world, are wastes. But they don't know that, and they won’t know that. Ignoring the truth, they walk around streets equipped with pretenses. I'm particularly very annoyed by this fact.

I caught the most ordinary-looking one. Don't you think discrimination should be eliminated?
I don't know if it's just me, but it's so easy for me to get a maggot to come here voluntarily. I don't have to foolishly seduce or use force that the media usually says in kidnapping cases by psychopaths. I wonder if those psychopaths who only target the easy are really psychopaths.
Speaking of which, what do you think about the movies and dramas that people make? Those psychopathic characters… Don’t you think that they normally fail to express even 10% of the actual abilities of people like us? It's pathetic. They don't even know what this is and expand their imagination and enjoy themselves. People like us should try to understand those maggots’ thought processes just for being in society even though we have no interest in them. Ironically, they are always interested in differences between people like them and people like us, but they don't get out of their own perspectives.
To be honest, it's a pity that I have to deal with one by one. But, if I don't do this, the world won't change. So, my ultimate goal is to build a more efficient system by laying the foundations like this.

I brought a flashlight to its eyes very closely, and its face frowns. It seems like it is slowly back to being conscious, so it is fair to start my job. In fact, the most convenient way for me is that ending it up with like going to sleep. As I work, it is unavoidable that people leave their traces here and there. I don't know how they live their lives, so it's really dirty and disgusting to me. Most humans don't live a decent life like me. I heard that many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom and touch things and eat food. Those usually pretend they care about hygiene. I can observe it from my family and friends as well and just put it up with. This is one of the pieces of evidence that I love them. I just want to put up with.
So, if I just use drugs, I don't have to see those disgusting scenes. But shouldn't it has something significant in its life before it dies?
Fear covers its face. So, it has realized what an emotion with a specific reason is. For this maggot, this would be the first time in life that emotion, perception, and expressions are synchronized with each other. It's obvious that this person has lived the entire life making noise and wanting to be understood its feelings without knowing what those are. It is just like typical humans.
If humans cannot see an essence, they are just animals. Animals are cute though. You know cores are missed in most human behaviors. They can only mimic consequent behaviors and just pretend since they have no ability (might be capacity) to contemplate. Then, they fall into an illusion and cause damage to the others. The lives of those, who do not know who they are, are not different from death. Then, wouldn't it be better to disappear to save energy and conserve the nature?

I finished the work, and I am writing to you. Ahn, I don’t doubt that you are my kind. A psychopathic trait possessor. But I just don't understand why you think social morality is so important. But like other humans, even if we have the same trait, we can have different beliefs and tastes. So, I won't argue about your important things. I will just enjoy the feeling that comes from communicating with a person who has the same emotional and mental processes as what I have.
But look, if I were you, I wouldn’t live like that. I think some humans deserve death. I think that if keeping social morality protects a human being who deserves to die, it should be ignored for a better world.
I am sure you already know the truth, and knowing the truth makes your life suffer (I feel sorry about that as the same kind). But I want to remind you that it's hard to educate those maggots who are already hardened their thought process. Turning people who deserve to die into people who deserve to live is not a matter of education. They have to be trained like animals. But you can't even train someone who do not admit that they are not functioning as human beings. Then, what would be the remaining option? Wouldn't it be better to get rid of those animals before someone gets bitten?
I know well that you are trying to make the world a better place. I have the same purpose. It's just with a different method.
Ah, the dignity of life that you always emphasize… Isn't it only fair to be applied to people who understand it? Most humans just live without thinking about it. So, they can’t even tell if it's important. Well, there are people who know it exists. But it's a different matter whether they consider it as an important factor in their lives. Look at the world. It’s evidence. Don’t you know that well? That's why people usually stir up in society. It's the noise of the times.
If the police find me, would Dr. Stern diagnose me as a psychopath? Then psychopaths will be more isolated, saying they're natural killers. I feel sorry for you and psychopaths who choose to live the same way as you, who are just keeping what you must keep. But I think you are ignoring an efficient method because you are care about people who do not deserve to be cared. I believe so.
