Federal Prosecutors Charge Financier Paul Regan With Fraud (WSJ. 20250908)
Federal prosecutors in New York City have charged financier, Paul Regan, with securities and wire fraud. The charges follow a Wall Street Journal exclusive series of articles on Regan's high-yield investment products. The U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan alleges Regan defrauded more than 300 investors of at least $50 million. Regan, who is last known to have been living in Colombia, couldn't be reached for comment. Federal prosecutors didn't immediately comment. SpaceX said, today it is paying $17 billion for the rights to use some of EchoStar's spectrum for cellphone service. The company said today it would use the spectrum as a foundation for its Starlink direct-to-cell business around the globe, and that it could share spectrum with telecom partners. PNC Financial Services Group is acquiring FirstBank Holding, a Colorado-based bank for $4.1 billion. The deal is expected to close early next year and is meant to extend PNC's presence in the West. And in Jerusalem today, two gunmen killed at least six people in a shooting at a bus stop. At least 11 people were injured, including several seriously. Israeli police described the shooting as an act of terror. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, identified the attackers as Palestinians from the Israeli-occupied West Bank. Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have praised the attack but didn't take responsibility for it.
