삶이라는 영원
어떤 숭고한 메시지
인생이란 단 한 번이기 때문에 그 가치가 이미 충분하다.
그 인생의 주인이 누구이든, 어떤 조만장자이든, 거리의 노숙자이든, 연쇄살인마이든, 학교 폭력 가해자이든 피해자이든, 그 가치는 이미 절대적으로 정해져 있다.
그 값은 하나님의 아들의 피값이다. 또 다른 말로 생명이라고 한다.
이처럼 삶에는 그 값이 이미 매겨져 있다.
그러나 많은 사람들이 이 삶을 마치 교환이 가능한 것, 혹은 여러 번 재생이 가능한 것이라고 자기 마음대로 정의하고 그 가치를 전혀 모른 채 낭비하고 있다.
죄와 무지에 자신을 방임하며 자신뿐만 아니라 수많은 사람들에게 오물을 묻히는 삶을 살든지, 죄책감에 자기를 썩히고 있든지, 분노와 용서하지 못하는 쓴 뿌리 가운데서 허송세월하든지, 잘못된 관계에 상처만 받으며 살고 있든지, 그 무슨 모양이건 간에 한마디로 우리는 이것을 인생 낭비라고 한다.
진정한 삶의 가치가 실현되지 못하는 인생은 모두 낭비되고 있는 인생이다.
이 인생 낭비는 영원이라는 가치를 진정으로 깨달을 때 멈춘다. 영원이란 가치에 집중할수록 이 땅의 삶의 일시적인 아름다움은 더욱 선명하게 드러나기 때문이다.
그래서 삶은 그 자체만으로 절대적인 가치를 갖기 때문에 소중하고 아름답다는 명제는 참이다.
이런 의미를 담는 또 다른 표현으로 '숭고'라는 단어가 있다. 이는 곧 '계산, 측정 또는 모방의 가능성을 넘는 위대함'이라는 뜻이다.
삶이란 숭고하다. 측정 불가능한 고유한 가치를 내재하고 있다.
또 삶이란 수많은 순간이라는 요소들의 총 집합이다. 따라서 결국 이 땅에서의 삶 가운데 마주하는 모든 순간의 선택은 늘 영원과 맞닿아 있다.
결국 삶이란 집합을 구성하는 순간이라는 요소들도 각각 고유하게 숭고한 가치를 지니고 있는 셈이다.
그렇다면 모든 순간의 선택지마다 우리는 어떤 선택을 할 것인가에 대한 정답이 이미 주어졌다.
영원과 맞닿아 있는 선택이 그 답이다.
이처럼 우리의 삶은 일시적인 듯 보일지라도 영원하다는 것이다.
끝도 없는 선택지가 펼쳐져 있는 것처럼 보여도 결국 그 답은 하나다. 삶은 곧 영원이기 때문이다.
Because life only happens once, its value is already sufficient.
Regardless of who the owner of that life is, whether they are a wealthy person, a homeless person, a serial killer, a bully, a victim of bullying, the value of life is already absolutely determined.
That value is the price paid by the Son of God, also known as life.
Therefore, the value of life is already predetermined. However, many people define life as something that can be exchanged or reproduced multiple times, wasting its value without even realizing it.
They live a life of indulgence in sin and ignorance, burying themselves and countless others in filth, or letting guilt consume them, or wasting time in anger and unforgiveness, or living with the pain of wrong relationships. Regardless of the form, we call this a waste of life.
Any life that fails to realize the true value of life is a wasted life.
This waste of life stops when we truly realize the value of eternity. By focusing on the value of eternity, the temporary beauty of life on this earth becomes even clearer.
Therefore, the proposition that life is precious and beautiful because it has an absolute value in itself is true.
Another expression that carries this meaning is the word "sublime," which means "greatness beyond calculation, measurement, or imitation."
Life is sublime. It contains an immeasurable, intrinsic value.
Life is also a collection of countless moments. Therefore, ultimately, every choice we make in each moment of life on this earth always touches eternity.
Each moment of life that makes up this collection also has its own sublime value.
Therefore, the correct answer to every choice we face in each moment of life has already been given.
The answer lies in the choice that aligns with eternity.
In this way, our life may seem temporary, but it is eternal.
Although it may seem like an endless array of choices, the answer is ultimately one because life is eternal.
