소주 아티스트 퍼니준 (본명 김완준)
퍼니준 작가는 소주가 가진 동시대적(contemporary) 현상을 글과 그림으로 담는데 집중해 ‘소주 아티스트’로 불린다. 평상시에는 버려진 물건이나 추억의 물건으로 콜라주, 설치미술 형식을 통해 업사이클링 아트 작업을 한다.

퍼니준 작가는 대한민국에 나름의 주도가 있지만, 구전으로만 전해질 뿐 구체적으로 정의된 바 없는 점을 안타까워 하며 소주 마시는 법(How to drink soju)을 글과 그림으로 정리했다.
▷1단계-자리 앉기 ▷2단계-소주병 잡기 ▷3단계-소주병 따기 ▷4단계-소주 권하기 ▷5단계-소주 따르기 ▷6단계-소주잔 잡기 ▷7단계-소주 받기 ▷8단계-잔 부딪치기 ▷9단계-소주 마시기 ▷10단계-소주잔 놓기. 각 동작에 번호를 매겨 일러스트로 표현했다.
와인, 위스키, 맥주 등 술에 대한 다양한 연구와 책이 있지만, 한국을 포함 세계적으로 가장 많이 팔리는 소주에 대한 책이 전무하다는 것에서 영감을 받아 8년 동안 심혈을 기울여 250점의 그림과 글이 담긴 책을 완성했다.
HOW TO DRINK SOJU
Soju is the best-selling distilled liquor in the world, with over 10 million bottles sold every day. It is a drink that soothes the joys and sorrows of Koreans, and it tastes better accompanied by food. The phrase “let’s have a drink of soju” is a common greeting among Korean adults. Movies and dramas often show scenes of people drinking soju. As such, soju is one of the most familiar tools of communication in Korean daily life.
Soju also has its own methods for drinking, such as with wine, whiskey, and beer, but they have been passed on only by word of mouth. This is the first time the methods for drinking soju have been defined and published as a book with pictures.
