OpenAI에서 만든 대화명 AI인 ChatGPT-이하 챗GPT-에 대한 관심이 뜨겁습니다. 일반적인 관심을 뛰어넘어 출판사에서 기획만 하고 내용은 챗GPT가 쓴 책이 출간되기도 하고 일부 회사에서는 챗GPT가 직원들을 대체하기 시작했다는 기사도 보입니다.
이렇게 단순히 신기한 기술이 아니라 우리의 삶 속으로 들어오기 시작한 챗GPT로 새로 생긴 직업이 프롬프트 엔지니어 Prompt Engineer 라고 합니다. AI에게 내리는 명령어 prompt 를 전문적으로 다루는 직업인데요. 소개만 들으면 뭔가 전문적인 코딩 실력을 통해서 AI에게 작업을 지시하는 것 같지만 실제로 이 작업은 코딩과 무관하게 자연어-우리가 일상에서 대화에 사용하는 언어- 기반으로 이루어진다고 합니다.
아무리 채팅으로 물으면 답을 해주는 자연어기반의 채팅 AI라고는 하지만 챗GPT를 잘 활용하기 위해서는 나름의 요령이 필요하다고 합니다. '개떡같이 말해도 찰떡같이 알아듣고' 원하는 답을 주면 좋겠지만 수많은 자료들을 학습하여 가장 그럴듯한 답을 주는 방식의 AI인지라 아직은 사람이 기술에 맞춰야 하는 상황입니다. AI가 제 마음을 읽을 정도로 제 모든 것을 학습하는 것도 무섭긴 하겠네요.
