When he talked to Cynthia about his plan to question Ed, Cynthia was skeptical.
“Why do you want to question Ed first before this Violet girl?”
she asked.
“So that I can anticipate Violet's testimony,”
he answered lightly.
“That could be useless. You don’t have to listen to the suspect beforehand. That would only confuse your brain. Besides, we don’t know yet whether Violet really will press charges on him or not. I don’t think she is the trustworthy type.”
“Yeah, probably,”
Alexander murmured.
“I should stop thinking too much about this.”
“Maybe she wanted to turn your head toward her,”
Cynthia added.
“What do you mean?”
“She might have thought that if she showed you her own suffering, you would come back to her side.”
“Nonsense,”
Alexander denied at once.
“Why would I go back to her just because of her bad luck?”
Cynthia smiled. But it seemed bitter. Alexander didn’t miss that. He felt anxiety. No way, she couldn’t know what happened when she was not here. He observed her face cautiously. Now she just looked tired.
“Forget about it until she really does something.”
“I will,”
Alexander answered. She seemed not to know anything.
While he relaxed himself, Cynthia called him from a distance.
“Darling?”
“Yeah?”
He went to Cynthia. She held out videotapes familiar to him, those which the girl in the wheelchair gave them.
“Hey, I entirely forgot about these!”
Alexander exclaimed with an unpleasant shock. Sarah was waiting for her trial. Even without those 3 videos, the proof was sufficiently obvious.
"Let's check these out to see if we can add further charges. It's worth another look,"
she said this while putting the video in the video player.
From the very first scene of the video, his face went pale. It was him entering Sarah’s house. He stopped the video hurriedly,
“I cannot show you this. Let’s stop.”
“It’s fine. Let me watch,”
she insisted.
“I won’t! Stop, stop,”
Alexander was desperate.
“OK, I know why you don’t want me to see it. Fine. Then let’s watch the last part,”
she raised her arms as a sign of surrender.
