밀레니엄 미국 여행

안녕하세요...^^;

프레이야입니다.

이렇게 웹상에서 저의 브런치를 통해 만나 뵙게 돼서 반갑습니다.....

지난 거의 20년 전 겨울에 아이 둘을 데리고 미국에 다녀왔습니다.

떠나기 전 국제 운전면허증, 유스호스텔 회원증을 만들었지요.

한 달 내내 미국 전역을 돌고 싶었거든요.

이끝에서 저 끝까지 말이에요.

아주 달콤한 상상을 하면서 말이죠.

하루도 쉬지 않고 돌아다니는 것으로 일정도 짰습니다.

그러나 현실은 뜻대로 되지 않았습니다.

우선 아이들이 어렸고, 경제적 여건이 문제가 되고 (교통비 엄청 비싸던데요.),

또한 운전도 자신이 없었습니다.

언니가 차 1대를 주기로 약속했었는데 나의 운전 솜씨를 보더니

불안해서 못 주겠다는 겁니다. 흑; 약 5분간 언니를 원망했죠.

할 수없이 기차 타고 버스 타고 다녔습니다

이제는 돌아와 그때를 생각하면 가슴이 설렙니다.

눈앞에 그때의 정경이 그려지죠.

가끔 Sanfrancsco wear some flowers in your hair나 California dream이라는

노래를 듣게 되면 마음은 드넓고 강렬한 햇살이 쏟아지는 그곳으로 마구 달려 간 답

니다.

Last year , I went to America with two my children.

I got an international driver's licence and the membership card of youth hostel. I wanted to travel all around America, from one end to another, thinking of good times ahead.

However, it didn't quite turn out like that.

Firstly, my children were still young and there was the money problem.

Wow, the travel cost was too high. And I didn't have self-confidence in terms of driving. My sister had problemed to lend me her car, but she refused because she had concerns about my driving skills.

I was resentful of my sister for five minutes. Because of that, I had to use buses and trains.

Nevertheless, my heart throbs with joy when I think of those days. I can see the senery in my memory. When I hear the songn "Sanfrancisco" or "California Dreaming", my heart runs for the wide and sunny Californian fields.
