갇히다
You are wrong and I am wrong.
공간이라는 개념을 인지하지 못했다면 높낮이와 앞뒤, 그리고 안팎은 생겨나지 않았을 것이다. 우리가 공간 안에 위치한 존재라는 것, 바로 이것이 모든 상대성의 출발점이다.
일을 잘하는 사람의 기준은 일을 못하는 사람이 있어야만 태어난다. 맛있다는 기준은 맛없다가 존재해야만 의미를 갖는다. 아름다움은 추함 없이는 의미를 잃고, 성공은 실패라는 배경 없이는 빛을 발하지 못한다.
이렇게 우리는 양극 사이에서 살아간다.
서로를 더 밝게, 더 높게 만들 수도 있고 더 어둡게 만들 수도 있다.
하지만 각자 다른 공간적 위치에서 80억 인구가 손을 들고 '기준!'이라고 소리치는 세상에서 살아남기란 쉽지 않은 일이다. 시간이 우리 삶의 유한함을 깨닫게 하듯, 공간은 우리 삶의 기준점이 생겨남을 깨닫게 한다.
결국 나라는 기준점에서 상대적 선과 악이 태어난다. 나보다 높으면 높은 것이고, 나보다 낮으면 낮은 것이다. 나는 움직이는 기준점이 된다. 바로 여기서 미움과 정죄, 그리고 옳고 그름이 생겨난다.
인지하는 것과 인지하지 못하는 것은 큰 차이를 낳는다. 내가 기준일 수밖에 없다는 것을 인지하고 사는 것, 그것만으로도 세상은 좀 덜 정죄받지 않을까.
상대성을 인정한다는 것은 포기가 아니라 수용이다. 다양한 관점을 받아들이는 것은, 우리가 ‘공간적 상대성’을 피할 수 없는 존재임을 자각하는 일이다.
균형은 ‘너도 맞고 나도 맞다’가 아닌 ‘너도 틀리고 나도 틀리다’에서 , 우리 모두가 절대적 기준이 아님을 받아들일 때 비로소 가능하다.
결국 공간을 인지하는 인간의 상대적 관점은 피할 수 없는 조건이며, 그것을 자각하는 일만이 서로를 향한 진정한 소망이 될 수 있다.

Art x Shift
If we had never conceived the notion of space, there would be no up and down, no front and back, no inside and out. The very fact that we exist as beings positioned within space—this is the starting point of all relativity.
The standard for someone who works well can only emerge when there are those who work poorly. The criterion of "delicious" gains meaning only when "tasteless" exists. Beauty loses its significance without ugliness, and success cannot shine without the backdrop of failure.
Thus we live between polarities. We can make each other brighter and higher, or we can make each other darker.
But surviving in a world where 8 billion people, each from their different spatial positions, raise their hands and shout "Standard!" is no easy task. Just as time makes us aware of the finitude of our lives, space makes us realize that reference points emerge in our existence.
Ultimately, relative good and evil are born from me as a reference point. What is higher than me becomes high; what is lower than me becomes low. I become a moving reference point. This is precisely where hatred and condemnation, right and wrong, come into being.
There is a significant difference between being aware and being unaware. Living with the awareness that I cannot help but be a reference point—perhaps this alone would make the world a little less condemning.
Acknowledging relativity is not surrender but acceptance. Embracing diverse perspectives is recognizing that we are beings who cannot escape "spatial relativity."
Balance becomes possible not when we say "you are right and I am right, " but when we say "you are wrong and I am wrong"—when we accept that none of us is an absolute standard.
In the end, the relativistic perspective that comes from humans perceiving space is an inescapable condition, and only becoming aware of this can become a genuine hope we hold for one another.

아트쉬프트는 예술이 단순한 결과물에 그치지 않고,
예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
