한계의 한계
Art must disturb them all.
한계를 넘으려면
한계를 알아야 한다.
하지만
우릴 가두는 건
눈에 보이지 않는 것들이다.
습관적인 생각,
무심코 가진 편견,
당연하다 여긴 것들.
예술은
그 모든 걸 건드려야 한다.
허공에 손을 뻗어
보이지 않는 벽을
느껴본다.
자유롭다고 느낄 때가
오히려 가장 위험하다.
진짜 자유는
자유로운 상태가 아니라
내 안의 억압을
알아차렸을 때 찾아온다.
예술가의 책임은
그 억압을 직시하는 것.
그리고
조용히, 꾸준히
그 경계를 허무는 일.
그것이
예술가의 의무이다.

To transcend a limit,
one must first recognize it.
But what confines us
is often invisible.
Habits of thought,
unquestioned assumptions,
what we take for granted.
Art
must touch all of these.
We reach into the air
and sense
the wall we cannot see.
The moment we feel free
is often the most dangerous.
True freedom
is not a state of liberty
but the moment we become aware
of what has been oppressing us.
It is the artist’s responsibility
to face that oppression.
And quietly, steadily,
dismantle the boundary.
That
is the artist’s duty.

저희는 미술작가 부부로서, 예술을 만나는 방식에
변화를 시도하고자 아트쉬프트를 만들었습니다.
아트쉬프트는 예술이 단순한 결과물에 그치지 않고,
예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
