선택이란 선물
FREE WILL
자유의지가 있다는 것은
선택이 자유롭다는 것.
선택이 자유로워야
공평이 성립된다.
공평이 성립돼야
관계는 진정한 의미를 가질 수 있다.
숫자 하나를 선택하려면
모든 숫자 선택이 가능해야만
선택이 의미를 지닌다.
즉 자유의지는
자유를 선택하지 않을 자유.
자유를 억압할 자유까지
허락되어야만 하는 것이다.
진실된 선택의 가치는
공평한 끝과 끝,
그 양끝의 옵션에서
선택이 가능할 때 성립된다.
자유의지는
존재의 근본 조건이다.
관계의 기초다.
의미의 출발점이다.
그리고
가장 아름다운 선물이다.
선택을 의미 있게 하기 위해 주어진 선물.
하지만
동시에 가장 위험한 선물이다.
자유를 포기할 자유.
공평을 깨뜨릴 자유.
관계를 거부할 자유.
금지된 것을 택할 자유.
자유의지는
선택의 진정한 의미를 위해
이 모든 어둠까지 품을 수밖에 없다.
그리고 우리는
그 선택의 결과를 살아간다.

To have free will means
that choice is free.
Choice must be free for
fairness to be established.
Fairness must be
established for relationships
to hold true meaning.
To choose one number,
all numbers must be
available for selection
only then does choice carry meaning.
Thus free will is
the freedom not to choose freedom.
The freedom to suppress freedom
must also be permitted.
The value of genuine choice is established
when fair options at both extremes,
those polar opposite options,
are available for selection.
Free will is
the fundamental condition of existence.
The foundation of relationships.
The starting point of meaning.
And it is the most beautiful gift.
A gift given to make choice meaningful.
But it is simultaneously
the most dangerous gift.
The freedom to abandon freedom.
The freedom to shatter fairness.
The freedom to reject relationships.
The freedom to choose the forbidden.
Free will,
for the sake of choice's true meaning,
has no choice but to embrace
even all this darkness.
And we live with
the consequences of that choice.

예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
