How to Traverse Time and Space
잭과 나는 모두 조형 작가이지만, 세상을 바라보는 시선과 그것을 흡수하는 방식은 매우 다르다. 나는 미래를 궁금해하며, 그 궁금증으로 현재를 만들어간다. 레시피 없이 이것저것 재료를 섞고, 그 안에서 예상치 못한 결과를 기대하는 일에 신이 난다. ‘만약에’라는 말을 달고 사는 나에게, 예술은 억압과 감정의 입구이자 출구이며, 질문은 곧 작품이 된다.
잭은 나와 반대다. 그는 언제나 순간에 머무른다. 지금 일어나고 있는 현상을 멈추고 바라보며, 주변의 모든 디테일을 조용히 흡수해 낸다. 그에게 예술은 받아들임의 입구이자 출구이며, 표현 방식 또한 순간적인 스케치에 가깝다. 그의 조형물은 뚜렷한 존재감을 품은 동시에, 사라질 듯한 찰나의 인상을 담고 있다. 순간의 명확함을 흐름으로 해체하는 것처럼.
나는 잭의 세계를 통해 '순간'을 느끼게 되었고, 잭은 나를 통해 '만약'이라는 공간에 초대된다. 우리는 단순히 자신의 세계를 표현하는 것을 넘어, 서로의 시공간을 공유하고 확장해 나간다.
과연 세상은 어떤 곳일까. 미래를 꿈꾸는 사람과 현재를 붙잡는 사람, 질문하는 사람과 받아들이는 사람들이 각자의 언어로 세상을 해석한다. 그 해석들이 만나며 또 다른 차원의 이해가 생겨난다. 그리고 이것이 바로 예술이 만들어내는 설명할 수 없는 연결 방식이다.

우리는 같은 시대, 같은 공간, 같은 집에 있지만 서로 전혀 다른 시간의 결을 따라 움직인다. 예술은 이렇게 엇갈리고, 얽힌, 결코 혼자서는 도달할 수 없는 세계로 우리를 초대한다. 우리는 그렇게, 예술을 통해 서로의 시공간을 넘나 든다.

Art x Shift
Zach and I are both sculptural artists,
but the way we see and absorb the world is remarkably different. I move through the present fueled by my curiosity about the future. I mix materials without a recipe, excited by the unexpected outcomes that may arise. For someone like me who always lives with the question, “What if?” art becomes both the entrance and the exit to emotion and suppression. And the questions themselves become the work.
Zach is the opposite. He dwells in the moment. He pauses to observe what's happening right now, absorbing every surrounding detail in silence. For him, art is the entrance and exit of acceptance. His method of expression resembles spontaneous sketches. His sculptural works possess a distinct presence while holding within them the fleeting impression of a moment—as if clarity dissolves back into flow.
Through Zach’s world, I’ve come to feel the weight of the present. And through mine, Zach is invited into the space of “what if.” Our practices go beyond expressing individual worlds—we share and expand each other’s time and space.
What kind of place is the world, really?
Those who dream of the future, and those who hold onto the present, those who question, and those who accept each interprets the world in their own language. As these interpretations meet, a new dimension of understanding arises.And this is precisely the indescribable way art connects us.

We live in the same era, the same space, the same home—yet we move along entirely different textures of time. Art invites us into a world
of misaligned paths and entangled rhythms,
a world no one can reach alone. Through art,
we cross into each other’s time and space.

저희는 미술작가 부부로서, 예술을 만나는 방식에 변화를 시도하고자 아트쉬프트를 만들었습니다.
아트쉬프트는 예술이 단순한 결과물에 그치지 않고, 예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
