I’m disappointed
작가는 실망이 직업이다.
작업을 하다 보면 머릿속에 있던
그 멋진 작품은 손을 대는 순간
내가 모르는 나와 협업되어
완전히 새로운 것을 내놓는다.
마치 다른 사람이 작업하는 것을 바라보듯,
나는 그저 나를 바라볼 뿐이다.
그래서 창작은 시작과 동시에
나에게 실망하는 직업이다.
하지만 또한 기대하지 못한 새로움을 맞이한다.
계획대로 되지 않아 실망했지만,
그 실망은 새로움의 재료가 된다.
계획하지 않은 그 무엇,
작가도 처음 본 것,
예술은 스스로 태어난다.

An artist’s job is disappointment.
As I work, the magnificent piece
that existed in my mind changes the moment
I lay my hands on it.
It collaborates with a side of me I don’t even know, giving birth to something entirely new.
It’s like watching someone else work;
I’m just observing myself.
So, from the very beginning,
creation is a profession
where I’m disappointed in myself.
Yet, it also brings an unexpected novelty.
I’m disappointed because things don’t go according to plan, but that disappointment becomes the raw material for something new.
The unplanned something,
the thing the artist has never seen before,
art is born by itself.

아트쉬프트(Art x Shift)
저희는 미술작가 부부로서, 예술을 만나는 방식에
변화를 시도하고자 아트쉬프트를 만들었습니다. 아트쉬프트는 예술이 단순한 결과물에 그치지 않고, 예술과 삶, 작가와 관객이 함께 어우러지는 공간입니다. 작업실, 전시공간, 카페, 굿즈샵이 결합된 이곳은 예술가의 창작 과정과 그 안에 담긴 고민, 서사를 자연스럽게 나누며, 예술이 일상 속에 스며드는 문화를 만들어가고자 합니다.
We created Art x Shift with the intention of transforming the way we as a visual artist couple engage with art. Art x Shift is a space where art goes beyond being a mere outcome, becoming a place where art, life, and the connection between artists and audiences coexist. With a combination of a studio, exhibition space, café, and a shop, this space naturally shares the process of creation, the challenges, and narratives within, while fostering a culture where art seamlessly integrates into everyday life.
