어느 분야나 마찬가지이지만, 형사 사건에서도 많은 약어와 두문자 표현이 존재한다. 다음은 흔한 형사 변호사들 사이의 대화이다. 대화에 사용된 용어와 약자의 뜻이 무엇일까 한 번 맞춰보자. (답은 아래)
Attorney A: Hey, I got a client who FTA'd on a DOS charge. His LOL was due to a DUI. I saw it on the NCIC/VCIN. Gees, he was on a PR bond, though.
Attorney B: Again? well, then you can file an MTC and hope the judge grants it.
Attorney A: I will. But I've already filed an MTS, so the LEO will show up there.
Attorney B: When is the NCD? The CA may agree to continuance.
Attorney A: I doubt it. The CA previously rejected my request to NP a GL charge when the officer didn't show up on the court date.
Attorney B: I remember that. Wasn't your client also charged with APO before?
Attorney A: Yeah, that looked pretty bad. He was found guilty and we asked for a PSI.

-NP: Nolle Prosequi: 기소 중지
-GL: Grand Larceny: 중절도
-APO: Assault on Police Officer: 경찰관 폭행죄
-PSI: Pre-Sentencing Investigation: 선고 전 조사
