“라떼는 말이야… 어흠, 어흠…”
내가 어릴 적엔 모래밭에 앉아서
모래 속에 손을 넣고 그 위에 모래를 덮은 후,
“두껍아, 두껍아, 헌 집 줄게, 새 집 다오”
라는 노래를 하곤 했다
그래서 난 이 곡을 ‘진달래 먹고 물장구치던
그 아스라한 기억 속에 남아 있는
우리 모두의 어릴 적 시절에 찬사를 보내는
나만의 표현’이라고 하고 싶다.
“When I was your age… well…”
When I was still a child, I used to play a game with my friends
where all of us used to make a tunnel using our hands
covered with sand. Then we used to chant a song,
wishing our hands would create a new home
for a toad so it could abandon its old one.
Yes, the lyrics really don’t make sense, but with this song,
I’d like to pay tribute to our past that we all share:
an era where we believed Superman could save the world
and deciding whether to put mustard or ketchup on
our hot dogs was really a big deal.
