33. How much is~~~ How much are~~~~
영어로 가격을 묻고 대답해 보는 활동을 영어로 배워 본다. 돈은 셀 수 있어서 셀 수 있는 명사처럼 보이지만, 돈은 셀 수 없는 명사로 취급한다. 가격을 묻고 대답하는 연습을 하기 전에 셀 수 없는 명사에 대한 복습을 한 후 본 수업에 들어간다.
Q:What is a Non-count noun? 셀 수 없는 명사가 뭐지?
A: Non-count noun cannot count. 셀 수 없는 명사는 셀 수 없다.
milk, juice, water, food, cheese, bread, money and so on..........: They are non-count nouns.
우유, 주스, 물, 음식, 치즈, 빵,
Q: How do we ask a price? 가격을 어떻게 물을 까?
A: We use “how much is~” with singular noun to ask a price. “how much is~” 는 단수 명사의 가격을 물을 때 사용한다.
We use “how much are ~” with plural noun to ask a price. “how much are ~”는 복수 명사의 가격을 물을 때 사용한다.
How much is this candy? It is ten cents. 이 캔디는 얼마예요? 10센트입니다.
How much are these peanuts? They are five cents. 이 땅콩들은 얼마예요? 5센트입니다.
(Gesture: What is a Non-count noun? Non-count noun cannot count. ‘Non-count noun’ 은 두 손을 교차해서 X를 만든 후 한 손으로 C를 만들고 바로 주먹 쥔다. ‘cannot count’ 두 손을 교차해서 X를 만들면서 머리를 살짝 양옆으로 흔들어 준다.

and so on. 오늘 손의 손바닥이 옆을 향하게 한 후 손을 세워 안쪽에서 바깥쪽으로 아래쪽을 살짝 씩 두드린다는 기분으로 옆으로 나아가게 한다.
How do we ask a price? 왼손의 검지와 중지로 작은 원을 만든다.
We use “how much is~” with singular noun to ask a price. ‘singular noun’ 은 왼손의 검지만 세운다. ‘ask a price’ 오른손을 입 앞쪽에 대고 손으로 말하듯 손가락들을 위아래 벌려 준다.
We use “how much are ~” with plural noun to ask a price. ‘plural noun ’ 은 한 손의 손가락들을 구부렸다가 펴준다.
How much is this candy? It is ten cents.
