150년 후의 미래를 걷고 있을 그대들에게 보내는 편지
1. 퀸메이커
150년이 지난 어느 미래 시대를 살아가고 있을 그대에게
넷플릭스의 시리즈 부문에서 장기간 1위를 하고 있던 '퀸메이커'를 보게 됐어.
이 장편 드라마의 주인공은 두 여성인데 한 명은 시장 선거에 출마하는 인권 변호사이고
한 명은 그녀를 시장으로 만들기 위해 백방으로 노력하는 대기업 출신의 '퀸메이커'였지.
위의 포스트에서 보는 것처럼 '정치쇼'라는 표현을 쓰고 있는데,
드라마에서
'퀸메이커'란 사람은 미디어 매체를 활용해
인권 변호사와 상대방에 선과 악의 프레임을 씌우고
내 편의 이익을 도모하고 상대방의 불리함을 극대화하고 있다네.
그걸 쓴 드라마 작가도
그걸 시청하는 시청자들도
모두 별 문제 의식 없이... 아무렇지도 않게... 묘사하고 있는 현 시대의 자화상.....
드라마에서 묘사된 상대방 인물이 나쁜 행동을 하지 않았다는 것이 아니지만,
그 악역의 인물 역시 '돈'으로 여론을 사용하는 모습을 보이고 있지만,
그 주인공 퀸메이커 역시 '돈'으로 여론을 조작하는 현대의 자화상...
유튜브를 운영하고 있는 내게도 이런 종류의 메일이 계속해서 오고 있지.
이런 건 아마도 빙산의 일각일 거야.
이렇게 댓글 부대를 돈으로 사고파는 세상에서
돈의 논리를 일찌감치 배제하고 정직하게 살아가고 있는 사람들은 상대적으로 막대한 피해를 보고 있어.
정치인은 선거에서 탈락하기도 하고, 유튜버는 채널 운영이 힘들어지기도 하지.
이런 식의 유튜브 노출 알고리즘에 영향을 줄 수 있는 서비스가 사방에서 버젓이 홍보 되고 있는 걸 보면,
아마도 현대 사회의 이면에는 이런 방식의 부패가 판을 치고 있고,
대중은 이렇게 조작된 미디어 세상을 진실로 받아들이고 이에 대한 경각심조차 갖고 있지 않다고 생각돼.
그럼에도 앞으로도 이런 식의 서비스는 무상 체험이라 할지라도 해볼 생각이 없어.
이렇게 사람들을 오도하고 기만하는 행동은
내 유튜브 채널이 지금처럼 사장되고 있다 할지라도...
아닌 건 아니라고 생각해.
150년이 지난 어느 미래 시대를 걸어가고 있는 그대...
당신의 세상은 이런 여론 조작이 없는 '유토피아'라면 좋겠어.
아마도 그때는 모든 것들이 투명하게 사회와 공유되고 있겠지?
앞으로 과거의 한 사람으로 이렇게 종종 당신들에게 편지를 보내려고 해.
이게 당신들에게 잘 전달될 수 있을지 모르겠지만,
후세들에게 어느 날, 빈센트 반 고흐의 그림이 눈에 들어왔던 것처럼
미래의 누군가 이 시대의 이런 미치광이도 있었다는 걸 들어줬으면 좋겠네.

To you, living in a future era 150 years from now,
I have watched the series 'Queenmaker,' which had been in the first place on Netflix for a long time. The main characters of this epic drama are two women. One is a civil-rights lawyer running for a mayor in an election, and the other is a former executive from a major corporation who is working tirelessly to make her the mayor.
As seen in the previous post, the expression "political show" is being used. In the drama, the character called "Queenmaker" utilizes media channels to frame the civil-rights lawyer and the opposing side with a dichotomy of good and evil, while promoting their own interests and maximizing the disadvantages of the other party.
Both the drama writer who writed this storyline and the viewers who watch it seem to depict this without any particular awareness or concern... almost casually. It is a haunting reflection of the present era.
Although It doesn't mean that the character portrayed as the opposing side in the drama may not engage in malicious behavior, and the antagonist also exhibits the use of money to manipulate public opinion, but, Similarly, the protagonist, the "Queenmaker," also represents a contemporary portrayal of manipulating public opinion with money.
This is probably just the tip of the iceberg. In a society like this, those who choose to live honestly and reject the logic of money are relatively disadvantaged. Politicians may face defeat in elections, and YouTubers like me may struggle to maintain their own channels.
Seeing various services boldly promoting their ability to influence YouTube's exposure algorithm, it is likely that this form of corruption is rampant beneath the surface of modern society. The public accepts this manipulated media world as truth without even being aware of it.
Despite that, I have no intention of trying such services, even if they were offered me this for free. I believe that deceiving and manipulating people is wrong, even though it means my YouTube channel remains stagnant.
As you walk through a future era that is 150 years ahead, I hope your world is a "Utopia" without such manipulation of public opinion. Perhaps everything will be transparently shared within society by then, with honesty I mean.
In the future, I intend to occasionally send letters like this to you as a person from the past. I'm not sure if this will effectively reach you, but I hope that someone, someday in the future will hear this voice of me, an eccentric person of our time, just as Vincent van Gogh's paintings caught the attention of the next generation.
From one man believing that UFOs are not extraterrestrial but rather amusement rides to research the past from future generations...
