무대가 조금 밝아진다. 오델로를 알아본 데스데모나가 슬픔과 두려움에 사로잡혀 도망가려 한다. 반면 오델로는 데스데모나를 알아보지 못한다.
오델로 이봐, 거기 서요. Holla! stand there!
오델로가 데스데모나를 쫓아간다.
데스데모나 제발 저리 가세요. Prithee, dispatch.
오델로 살고 싶으면 멈춰요. Hold, for your lives!
데스데모나 왜 그렇게 무섭고 난폭하게 말씀하세요? Why do you speak so startingly and rash?
오델로 거기 멈추라구요. Nay, stay.
데스데모나 뭘 바라세요? What is your will?
오델로 왜 그렇게 두려움에 떨면서 도망가는 거죠? 걱정할 거 없어요. Do you go back dismay’d? ‘this a lost fear.

데스데모나가 오델로를 뿌리치며 달려가더니 무대 한쪽에 멈춰서서 버들잎 노래를 중얼거린다. 오델로가 망연자실하며 주변을 둘러보는 동안 이야고가 무대로 나와 다른 쪽에서 서성인다.
