친구가 보내온 책
창세기 1장 Genesis 1
뭐? 너 그 책을 아직 안 읽어봤다고? 모른다고?
미국에 사는 나의 단짝 친구 순기는 깜짝 놀란다. 자기는 이미 십여 년 전에 이 책을 읽고 성경 통독을 하였다며 이 유명한 책을 왜 모르느냐 한다. 그녀 말을 들어보니 성경을 세계사와 함께 매우 재밌게 통독하는 줄도 모르게 다 읽게 만든다는 것이다. 아무리~ 그런 책이 있을까 하는 나에게 일단 시작해보라며 보내 준 책. 한 권이 아니고 두 권이 도착했다. 신약과 구약 커다란 책 가격을 보니 각각 2만 원이나 하는데 무려 4만 원어치 그녀는 쓱 내게 선물한 것이다. 아직 제대로 성경 통독을 못했다는 내가 성경 통독해보기를 바란다며.
그래? 고뤠? 세계사와 함께 성경 읽기라고? 지리와 역사가 함께 하는 아주 재미있는 성경 읽기 일종의 가이드라인이란다. 흠 도착한 책을 펼쳐본다. 만약 그렇다면 일거양득이라고 헤헤 여기서 읽어가라는 대로 나는 영어성경으로 읽어가며 영어실력도 키워가며 신앙도 돈독히 다지는 멋진 기회가 될 것 같다. 내 돈 들여서 산 게 아니라 친구가 선물해준 것이니 꼭 그것도 아주 잘 읽어야 한다는 부담이 있다. 내가 얼마나 잘 읽고 있는가를 그녀에게 보여주고 싶기도 하다. 그리하여 난 이것으로 하나의 매거진을 만들어 성경통독에 도전해보려 한다. 오케이 도전은 언제나 아름다운 것. 파이팅!!!
우선 창세기 1장부터 11장까지이다. 여기 인류 일반 역사, 메소포타미아 문명 바벨론 제국의 발흥, 즉 세계사가 다 들어있다는 것이다. 누가 왕이어야 하는가? 창조주이신 하나님이 왕이라는 것을 여기서 강조한단다. 아담, 네가 만물을 다스려라 그러나 진짜 왕은 나다.라는 하나님 말씀이 들어있다는 것이다. 창조 최종 목적은 아담을 태어나기 위해서. 하나님 닮은 아담. 하나님을 그대로 반사해내는 하나님의 아들 아담.
자, 여기서 그럼 창세기를 읽어보기로 한다. 하하. 영어로! 오예!
집에 있는 영어성경 NIV로 읽어 내려간다. 하하 이렇게 뒤죽박죽 책 읽다 성경 있다 무어가 어떻게 되는 건지 모르겠으나 어쨌든 성경도 알고 영어도 익히고 그냥 무어 막 좋을 것 같으니까 실행한다. 파이팅!!!
Genesis 1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light, " and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day, " and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning-- the first day.
And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning -- the second day.

And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. God called the dry ground "land, " and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening, and there was morning -- the third day.
호홋 아, 재미있다. 한때 성경 필사한다고 커다란 공책을 사놓고 많은 사람이 난리였는데 그때도 난 기왕이면 영어로 필사해나갔다. 혼자 쾌감을 느껴가며 남몰래 영어로 찬송가 부르고 영어로 성경 읽고 영어로 필사해나가는 요 스릴 만점의 기분도 꽤 괜찮았다. 그리고 오늘 모든 게 들통나도 어떠랴 나 하고픈 대로 해보는 게지. 영어 공부한다고 일부러도 하는데 이렇게 성경도 읽고 영어도 잊지 않고 하하 꽤 괜찮네. 다행히 아직까지는 별 무리 없이 술술 잘 읽힌다. 아하 이렇게 창세기 일장은 누가 왕이냐의 싸움을 이야기하는 장이라는 거구나. 오케이~
오래 두들겨댔지만 겨우 창세기 1장 3일째 창조까지 마쳤을 뿐이다. 오홋 요쯤에서 커피 한 잔 타오고~ 바쁜 일을 앞두고 망중한이랄까. 일부러 시간 내 두들기는 이 기쁨이여. 하하

And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth."
teem: 충만하다
이런 걸 쓰고 있을 때는 딱 두 가지다. 아무것도 입에 안 들어가게 하거나 무엇이고 마구 들어가게 하거나이다. 난 그냥 아~ 무 생각 없이 즐겁게 입 안으로 넣고 있다. 커피를 마셨고 녹차를 마셨고 자갈치 과자를 뜯었다. 양치질을 하면 딱 끊을 수 있을 텐데 비도 부슬부슬 내리고 명절 전야 이 한적함이 좋다. 끝없이 차를 마신다. 과자가 곁들여지지 않으면 된다. 양치질을 하고 올까? 그리고 차만 마실까? 그러자. 다른 건 먹지 말고 차만 마시는 거다. 오케이~ 양치질하러 후다다닥

Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in ouir likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing pland on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground -- everything that has the breath of life in it -- I give every green plant for food." And it was so. God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning -- the sixth day.
subdue: 진압하다. 정복하다.
오홋 이렇게 31절까지 창세기 제1장이 끝났다. 으흠. 요렇게 하루 한 장씩이라도 성경을 이렇게 두들기며 필사해보자. 친구가 선물한 책과 함께 이번엔 한번 제대로 성경을 통독해보자. 오케이!!!
이 책에서는 네가 나를 창조주로, 통치자로, 왕으로 인정하고 있는 중인 것을 나한테 보이는 표시 제사! 하나님은 왕이시다! 통치하셔야 한다. 너는 그 사랑의 통치를 받는 행복한 아담! 그렇게 설정을 다시 하자는 거다. 즉 너는 나다. 내 형상이다. 창세기 1장 26절 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in ourlikeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
목사인 남편 따라 미국에 가서 그 교회의 성도들 성경 통독을 시키기 위해 정리를 하느라 애쓴 아내, 서방님께 보여주었더니 쓴 네가 강의해라 하여 강의한게 이 책의 시작이었다는데 자신은 신학 가도 아니고 전문가도 아니고 그저 일반인들 성경 읽는데 세계사와 지도를 합쳐 성경과 함께 해간다가 그녀의 주장이다. 처음부터 쫙 빨려 들어가 읽게되지는 않지만 인내를 가지고 여기서 나오는 대로 성경을 타자기로 두들겨 필사해가면서 어쨌든 이 책을 끝내보자. 시작이 반이라는데 난 이미 시작을 했으니 반은 한 거다. 잘했다. 짝짝짝 마음이 복잡할 때 이렇게 성경을 다다다다 두들기고 있으면 무언가 매우 편안해질 것 같다. 하하 난 이렇게 성경 통독을 추석을 맞아 시작해본다. 친구가 보내 준 책과 함께. 파이팅!!!
