"당신이 싫어하는 일을 매일 하라"라는 뜻이 맞나 싶어서 구글 검색을 해 보았는데 루스벨트 여사가 말한 내용이 아니란다. 이게 무슨 말인가 싶어 검색을 더 해 보았다.

그 비슷한 이야기가 계속 이어져 내려왔고 정확하게 명언대로 이야기한 사람은 저널리스트인 메리 슈미츠의 글이었다.
루스벨트 여사가 했던 이야기는 "당신이 할 수 없는 일을 해야 한다"였는데 사람들에게는 메리 슈미츠의 글이 루스벨트 여사가 말한 것처럼 회자되고 있었다.

대중이 말한다고, 활자화되어 있다고 해서 그것이 꼭 진실을 의미하는 것은 아니다.
진실을 찾고 싶다면 그 원류를 찾아봐야 한다는 사실과 내가 보는 일에 항상 의문을 품어야 한다는 사실을 또 하나 깨닫다.
