동아시아에서의 보편적 마스크 쓰기

Universal masking, hand hygiene, anticeptic sprays, and social distancing are all needed to fight with Covid19.

Masks (dustproof, filter, dental, cotton, or handmade) prevent to spread or get the virus for the first place. Especially in case of Corona virus, there are many asymptomatic carriers who can spread the virus.

Many of East Asian people have been somewhat familiar with wearing masks due to ultra fine dust from China, SARS, and MERS corona virus throughout the 2000s and 2010s.

Especially Taiwan and Hong Kong could fast react to the spread of Covid19 by blocking the entry from China or prohibiting export of masks instantly due to their painful experiences of SARS and MERS corona virus.

South Korea had so many masks due to the severe ultra-fine dust from China. Yet, South Korean government failed in prohibitting export of masks at the ininital stage. So, South Koreans also had to suffer from the lack of masks.

South Korea government also didn't block entries from China and elsewhere, and didn't allow diagnosis tests for those who didn't come from China or have direct contact with the infected, even though there are so many asymptomatic infectees that diagnosis kits cannot detect.

South Koreans newly learned this time the importance of hand wash/sanitizer and antiseptic sprays/measures.

보편적 마스크 쓰기, 손 위생, 살균 스프레이, 그리고 사회적 거리두기 모두 코로나 바이러스와 싸우기 위해 필요하다.

마스크들 (방진 마스크, 필터 마스크, 덴탈 마스크, 면 마스크, 핸드메이드 마스크)은 바이러스를 퍼뜨리거나 그것으로부터 감염되는 것을 막는데 매우 중요하다. 특히 코로나 바이러스의 경우 바이러스를 전염시킬 수 있는 많은 무증상 감염자들이 존재한다.

많은 동아시아인들은 2000년대와 2010년대에 걸쳐 중국으로부터 오는 초미세먼지, 사스, 그리고 메르스 코로나 바이러스 때문에 마스크 쓰는 것에 익숙해져 있었다.

특히 타이완과 홍콩은 사스나 메르스의 고통스러운 경험때문에 즉시 중국으로부터의 입국을 막거나 마스크의 국외 반출을 막음으로써 코로나 바이러스의 전파에 빠르게 대응할 수 있었다.

남한의 경우 중국으로부터 오는 심각한 초미세먼지 때문에 많은 마스크를 보유하고 있었다. 하지만 한국 정부는 초기 마스크의 국외 반출을 막는데 실패했다. 그래서 한국인들도 마스크 부족으로 고생해야했다.

한국 정부는 또한 코로나가 심한 중국이나 다른 나라들로부터의 입국을 막지 않았으며, 중국에서 오지 않았거나 확진자와의 직접 접촉이 없는 경우 확진 검사를 아예 시행해주지않았었다. 검사 키트가 잡지 못하는 무증상 감염자가 많은데도 말이다.

한국인들은 이번에 손 씻기나 손 세정제 그리고 살균 스프레이나 방역의 중요성에 대해 새롭게 알게 되었다.
