Time flies. It flies like a thunder. It was like the speed of finishing a new donut at the DK Donuts in a documentary movie <The Donut King> — My donut was gone so quickly. Today is January 29. The last Sunday in the first month this year. Before today’s over, I’d like to review my New Year's resolution: a daily routine of reading, writing, and speaking in English.
First of all, it was not bad at all. I finished 3 English books (and 2 to 3 non-tech articles a day other than ones for my work) and wrote 10-ish blogs in English. Speaking practice didn’t go well, though. I barely kept up with this routine. At the end of January, I managed to begin practicing it while walking or taking a short break.
How useful are they? I don’t know yet. But one thing is for sure: I get to love this routine. It often goes too far. I sometimes started my work later than 9 a.m. because I had not completed my writing routine until then. It gets more addictive, especially when polishing with Quillbot and ChatGPT. My reading patterns have certainly changed. I make notes for crystal-clear and interesting writings and study them.
I’m one of the ja-jak-gong members. Ja-jak-gong is a small online group for people with a weekly blog writing routine. This routine means more than just 30 minutes per day (the average amount of time I spend writing a blog). I’ connected with the group of people closely by reading and sharing self-records of our days, often including the deep side of our minds and emotions.
My New Month Resolution is to find balance. Do not spend more than 30 minutes on the writing routines; instead, invest in more prioritized tasks. Since I have buddies now who want to be involved in my new initiative, I got to manage my time better and use it carefully.
