아이비리그인 프린스턴 대학은 하버드, 예일, 스탠퍼드 대학과 함께 미국 최상위권 대학 그룹을 형성하고 있다. 최근, 그런 프린스턴 대학에 편입을 시도하려는 학생들이 많다. 무엇을 준비해야 하는가에 대해서는 이 글을 말미에 올려 놓을 것이다.

프린스턴 대학의 편입은 쉽지 않다. 신입도 어렵지만 편입은 더욱 힘들고 어렵다. 잘 준비된 학생만 가능한데다가, 이 대학은 저소득층 학생, CC 학생, 미군 참전 용사로 사실상 한정을 했다. 따라서 미국 4년제 대학에서 이 대학으로 편입하기는 쉽지 않다.

프린스턴 대학의 편입 프로그램은 다양하고 엄격한 프린스턴 대학의 학습관경에서 충분히 따라올 능력과 의지가 있는 학생을 요구하고 있다. 프린스턴 대학은 각 학생들의 성취도, 재능, 잠재력 등 전반적인 것을 검토해서 편입생 합격자를 선발하겠다고 밝히고 있다.

이 대학은 가을 학기에만 편입생을 받아들인다. 또한, 프린스턴 대학은 학생이 이전 대학에서 이수한 학점을 평가하고 인정 여부를 결정한다.

프린스턴 대학의 Transfer Application Checklist

Submit

Common Application or Universal College Application. You must submit your application online through either the Common Application or Universal College Application. Please note: The Coalition Application is not available for transfer admission.

Princeton’s Transfer Supplement. In addition to the application provided by the Common Application or Universal College Application, all applicants must submit the Princeton Transfer Supplement. You should submit the Princeton Transfer Supplement online through the Common Application or Universal College Application website.

Graded Written Paper. For transfer applicants, a graded paper may come from a course taken within the last two years of schooling. While we prefer that it be in the subjects of either English or history, we will also consider papers from courses in the humanities and social sciences for our transfer applicants, provided they meet all of the other requirements listed. Please refer to general requirements for the graded written paper.

Application Fee or Fee Waiver. You may submit a fee waiver one of two ways: 1) Select the fee waiver option on the Common Application or Universal College Application. Your counselor or school official must approve your fee waiver request online or submit your fee waiver form by mail or fax. 2) Select one of the following fee waiver options on the Princeton Transfer Supplement: Princeton-specific, ACT, College Board, NACAC or Realize Your College Potential. All low-income students are eligible for the Princeton-specific fee waiver. In addition, all applicants who are serving or have served in the U.S. military are eligible for the Princeton-specific fee waiver. If you use the Princeton-specific fee waiver, you do not need to get approval from your counselor or school official.

Request

Official College Transcripts (from all institutions attended). An official transcript must be sent from the registrar’s office or equivalent at all postsecondary institutions attended.

Official High School Transcript. An official transcript must be sent by a school counselor or school official.

College Report. The College Report form is available from the Common Application and Universal College Application websites. Please ask your transfer counselor or other school official to complete and submit the College Report form.

Transfer Mid-Term Report (if currently enrolled). Please send us any in-progress grades you may have at time of application, if currently enrolled at another postsecondary institution. The Mid-Term report is available from the Common Application website.

Two (2) academic recommendations (at least one from a college instructor). Please ask two of your instructors from different academic areas of study to complete and send the recommendation forms, available on the Common Application and Universal College Application websites. At least one recommendation must be from a college instructor, such as a professor or teaching assistant. The subjects should be in core academic areas, such as English, foreign language, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and math.

Report

SAT or ACT. Transfer applicants should complete all testing by the end of March. When registering for the SAT or ACT, use the following codes to ensure your scores are sent to Princeton: SAT: 2672 and ACT: 2588. Learn more about standardized testing for admission.

Two (2) SAT Subject Tests (recommended, but not required). We recommend, but do not require, the submission of two SAT Subject Tests, which often assist us in the evaluation process. We have no preference for the specific SAT Subject Tests applicants might choose to take. However, if you apply for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree, we recommend that you take mathematics Level I or II, and either physics or chemistry. English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic (non-native English speakers only). If English is not your native language and you are attending a school where English is not the language of instruction, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System Academic (IELTS Academic) or the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic), in addition to the SAT or ACT. You are not required to take the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE Academic if English is your native language or if you have spent at least three years at a secondary or postsecondary school where English is the primary language of instruction. Please have your scores sent directly to Princeton: TOEFL: 2672.
