하버드 신학교(HDS)는 매사추세츠주 케임브리지에 있는 하버드 대학교의 구성 학교 중 하나다. 이 학교의 임무(미션)는 학생들을 종교에 대한 학문적 연구나 종교, 정부, 봉사에 대한 지도적 역할을 하도록 교육하는 것이다. 또한 이 분야에 관심이 있는 다른 하버드 대학의 학생들도 대상이다. 하버드 신학교(HDS)는 미국에 있는 대학에 기반을 둔 비종파 신학 학교들의 작은 그룹들 중 하나이다 (교파에 속하지 않은 신학교로 시카고 대학교 신학 학교, 예일 대학교 신학 학교, 밴더빌트 대학교 신학 학교, 웨이크 포레스트 대학교 신학 학교 등이 있다).
하버드 대학은 1636년에 청교도/의회주의 기관으로 설립되었고 수년 동안 목사를 훈련시켰다. 1816년 미국 최초의 비종파적(초교파적) 신학학교로 설립되면서 분리되었다. (프린스턴 신학교는 1812년 장로교 기관으로 설립되었다.) 앤도버(Andiver) 신학교는 1805년 자유주의 신학자인 헨리 웨어를 홀리스 신학교수로 임명한 후 하버드 대학을 떠난 정통 칼뱅주의자들에 의해 1807년에 설립되었다.)

2014년 4월, HDS의 교수진은 이미 Th.D. 프로그램에 등록한 학생들이 학위를 이수할 수 있도록 허용했음에도 불구하고 신학 박사 프로그램에 학생을 받지 않기로 투표를 했다. 대신, 박사 과정 학생들은 예술 과학 50%, 신학 교수 50%로 구성되고 하버드 예술 과학부에 상주하는 종교 연구 위원회의 후원으로 철학 박사(Ph.D.) 학위를 따고 있다. GSAS의 많은 박사 과정 학생들이 HDS에서 수강하고 HDS와 FAS 모두 박사 과정을 공동 프로그램으로 규정하지만, 박사 과정 학생들은 HDS가 아닌 공식적으로 GSAS에 등록되며, 하버드 GSAS만이 박사 학위를 수여할 수 있다.

▶Résumé or curriculum vitae
▶Complete academic history with transcripts for all coursework taken for credit
▶Three letters of recommendation (submitted electronically through our online application system)
▶Statement of purpose—1,000 words
▶Writing sample—1,000–1,500 words
▶TOEFL or IELTS scores (required of some international applicants only; see instructions)
▶Optional: GRE General Test Scores
Master of Theological Studies (MTS), Master of Divinity (M.Div.), Master of Theology (Th.M.) 이 과정은 MRPL보다 더 까다롭게 지원 서류를 요구한다. 학업계획서와 에세이 샘플을 요구한다.

Preparing for your application
Careful planning will allow you to put forth a thoughtful, cohesive application. As you begin to prepare your materials, you may want to consider taking these initial steps: update your résumé or curriculum vitae, register and study for the GRE, write an initial draft of your statement of purpose, discuss your application plans with your recommendation providers, research outside scholarships and funding sources, and plan your finances early by learning more about the cost of attendance and financial aid available through HDS.
Dates and deadlines
The application deadline is January 6, 2022, at 11:59 pm EST. Applicants will be notified of their decision in mid-March.
