하와이의 산불이 100명 가까운 사망자를 내며 아직도 수 십명이 실종 상태라고 합니다.

가족을 모두 잃은 사람도 있다고 합니다.

마우이 섬의 남부 해안가 지역에서 시작된 산불 (들불)은 삽시간에 해안가 마을을 모두 태웠고 사람들은 바다로 뛰어들거나 콘도의 수영장으로 뛰어들어 불꽃을 피했다고 합니다.
