영어표현] #55 곰손, 똥손 영어표현에도 있어요~

안녕하세요,

오랫만에 다시 시작합니다.

요리 등 손재주가 없을때 똥손, 곰손, 이라고 표현하는데요, 영어에서 비슷한게 있어 모아봤습니다.

All thumbs (형용사)로 사용합니다. (형용사처럼 사용하므로 a 를 붙이지 않아요)

예문:

When it comes to cooking, I'm all thumbs. I always manage to burn even the simplest of dishes.

My mom tried to teach me how to sew, but I'm all thumbs with a needle and thread.

I wanted to help my dad fix the car, but I'm all thumbs when it comes to mechanics.

Even though I love painting, I'm all thumbs with a paintbrush. I always end up with paint all over my clothes and not on the canvas.

When my boss asked me to help with the office move, I was excited at first but quickly realized I was all thumbs when it came to assembling furniture.

특히, 식물을 잘 못키우는 손은 a black thumb 이라고 합니다.

예문:

Every time I try to grow something, it dies within days. I guess I just have a black thumb when it comes to gardening.

My neighbor is a wonderful gardener, but unfortunately, I inherited my mother's black thumb and can't seem to keep a plant alive.
