We thought this would be a good opportunity to share with you some of our favorite holiday stories. Hopefully it'll also be a good reminder as to what the season is really all about.

나 대신 죽어 줄 예수님 때문에 안 죽게 되어 기쁜 거래요. 예수님이 그래서 오셨다고도 했고요, 게다가 예수님은 기뻐하라! 고 하셨어요. 그러니 왜 참되게 기뻐해야 하는지를 좀 아셔야 해요. 성탄절에 시끌벅적 “나는 누구? 여기 어디?”하고 있으면 되겠는가. 사순과 부활을 잘 맞이하기 위해서도, 나의 십자가를 준비해야 합니다."

미사후 예쁘게 포장된 성탄 떡 하나씩을 들고 환하게 인사를 나누었다. 마음보다 떡 하나가 낫다. 우매하기로는 언제나 지혜가 부족함을 안다. 100달러 지폐 한 장에 숨은 뜻부터 읽을 수 있었기롤 바라나이다. 아멘. 아멘.

Secret Santa 소개 (00:20) We're gonna start with some of my favorite stories I've done this 11 times—stories about Secret Santa, the anonymous wealthy businessman who goes around giving out hundred-dollar bills to random strangers. I'm going to show you two of the trips we've done with him, but first here's the story behind the story. Merry Christmas! It's the one story that never gets old. Every year we ride with Secret Santa as he and his elves hand out hundreds of hundreds to random strangers across the country.

Secret Santa 기원 (00:49) You've no doubt seen the happy endings, but almost no one knows the humble beginning. The legend of Secret Santa can actually be traced back to a single act of kindness in Houston, Mississippi. It was 1971—a homeless man had wandered into town and he was starving. The stranger stopped here at the Dixie Diner and ordered the biggest breakfast on the menu. His plan was to sneak out before the bill came.

David and Sandra Horne are Ted's children. They say their dad died in 2009, but that one gift keeps giving. That one little $20—just look what it did.

Larry Stewart의 맹세 (01:55) It's difficult to imagine that the money went to a man named Larry Stewart, who vowed that day if he ever got rich he would return the favor in spades. Larry eventually made millions in cable and long-distance and became the first Secret Santa. His identity revealed only after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2006. Which brings us to Larry's good friend. Larry was hospitalized—the current Secret Santa and I went up to visit him at night, moonlight shining, kind of surreal.

After giving away more than a million dollars to total strangers, Larry still felt more needed to be done. So that's when I assumed the responsibilities. Over the last decade this new Secret Santa has run the total to more than two million dollars—and all from 20 bucks. Talk about happy returns!

캔자스시티 경찰 작전 (02:52) The current Secret Santa has continued his giving and sharing, spreading Larry's message of kindness far and wide. And we still get to tag along every year. One of our most popular ride-alongs was in 2014 when Secret Santa turned to some elves in blue in Kansas City. Earlier this month in Kansas City, Missouri, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department was out looking for people. And when they spotted a subject, they went after him in a sting operation the likes of which this country has never seen. "Hello ma'am, your vehicle was targeted."

"We got a mission today to go out and do random acts of kindness." Every year this anonymous wealthy businessman gives out about $100,000 worth of hundred-dollar bills to random strangers. But this year instead of doing it all himself, he asked these deputies to give away much of it. "Start with a thousand." And so armed to the teeth with Benjamins, the officers went out to do Santa's bidding.

Their reactions a combination of really needing the money and being caught so off-guard.

Jessica Rodriguez, a mother of three, told the deputy he saved her Christmas. "Wow, hope you maybe get your kids something with it." As always, moments like that are the main mission here.

Our body cameras took a real beating, but it was worth it just to see people trust again and to see cops surrender.

노숙자 엘프 소개 (04:59) If you thought police handing out hundred-dollar bills was a Christmas miracle, wait 'til you see this next sleigh ride where Secret Santa shows us that help sometimes comes from the people and places you'd least expect. "Ma'am, how are you doing today? You ready for Christmas?" A lot of people ignore the homeless, but folks rushing past Moses Elder may regret their haste. Because this week all people had to do was pay him some attention and he would pay them back in Benjamins.

The same anonymous wealthy businessman who every year goes around the country handing out hundred-dollar bills to random strangers. But this holiday season, in addition to his normal giving, he came here to Phoenix.

Danny had no idea how he was going to buy Christmas presents. Eternally grateful for what he did. And that's the kind of relief Moses brought to so many here.

특별 기부자들 (06:22)"You had that for me." Most of those he blessed were strangers who just happened by, but not all. He gave this guy from church $400. He gave this homeless mother of five five hundred dollars. "And remember people appreciate you with your caring giving heart."

But he says that reward pales to the joy he received from helping others. "Today we changed a lot of people laughs but I believe my life was changed the most."

"You know kindness is a bridge between all people and so forever down you want to lift yourself up go do something kind for somebody." Maybe that happens—it'll make you feel like way more than a hundred bucks.

베서니의 소원 (07:26)"Okay Secret Santa told us he ran into Moses again just recently—he was helping serve food to other homeless people. The kindness continues." Whenever I think of the true meaning of Christmas I'm always reminded of what happened in the second grade classroom outside Raleigh North Carolina. It was 2011 and the guy in the Santa suit had just given everyone of these kids the exact toy they asked for in their letters. Every kid that is but Bethany Arnold who refused to ask him for a single toy.

가족의 그리움 (08:56)"I understand that he has to stay and help people but I do miss him a lot." Last time they saw each other they exchanged these keychains. "This is his heart." She carried his while he held on to hers. "I told her I said the next time that I see you I'll give you heart back." Unfortunately bringing two hearts together at Christmas isn't always a government priority.

음악 선물가게 (10:47)"Proving the only thing better than a dramatic homecoming is a family you know will always be there." This is my daughter Meryl. "I know she misses me a lot when I'm gone even just for a couple days right?" "You're always crying when I get home." "Not really." "You helped introduce the next story."

For Charlie and Dorothy Hale of Rochester New York every day is like Christmas morning. "Oh bright shiny woodwinds and worn-out old brass." Brown cardboard packages tied up with strings. Used musical instruments are their favorite things.

Dorothy a retired chemist and Charlie a retired doctor are both now in their 80s but still very active in this passion to restore musical instruments to their former glory and then give them away by the hundreds. So far the Hales have donated nearly a thousand instruments to the Rochester School District.

"You don't think so?" "No I don't." "They're ripples of effect I hope you know ripples." Sophomore William Delgado says it's more like tidal waves.

음악의 힘 (14:16)"Really music has and can create somebody and he created me." Studies consistently show that music education helps kids do better in school overall. If for no other reason then it makes them want to attend. "I wish you could be there every time I get to hand an instrument to a student and their eyes light up." "감사 표현 (14:51)"Fortunately the Hales are now starting to understand." "If I could thank you every single day of my life I would." As we go into the holidays it's good to remember that there is no greater gift than simply telling someone just how important they really are. "다행히 헤일 부부 이해 시작했어요." 기일리스 가족 (15:26)"[Music] Since we first aired that story a couple weeks ago dozens of viewers have reached out to donate used instruments to Charlie and Dot. Now that's music to our ears." Christmas is always the most wonderful time of year in the Giles household where they gather to proudly look to the future while never forgetting the past.

소작농 과거 (15:56)"Long ago but not nearly as long ago as you might expect sharecroppers worked this field in South Carolina." As late as 1964 Beau and Lake Giles were still toiling like indentured servants. In fact their children say they were by far the poorest family around. "We had to pick cotton." "Oh long oh yeah you had to pick cotton doing the school year."

But even as those prayers went unanswered the Giles children knew there was a better life out there. Because it was so tantalizingly close. The shack they lived in used to be right there.

"비 올 때만 학교 갔어요. 음식도 부족." "매일 기도했어요. 벗어나게 해 주소서." 기도가 안 이뤄져도 더 나은 삶 아는 아이들이었죠. 바로 코앞이었으니까요. 판잣집이 저기였어요.

타이마할 집 (17:06)"But in their view just past this pond here there was another house." "You can see it right back there." It's really just a modest home but to those sharecroppers kids pick and cotton in these fields that place seemed like the Taj Mahal. "I mean looking across the street and it it looked like a mansion no."

"연못 건너 다른 집 있었어요." "저기 보이죠." 소박한 집인데 소작농 아이들에겐 타지마할 같았어요. "길 건너 보니 궁전 같았어요.

"해방의 집 (17:41)"They got a bathroom and stuff like they were rich compared to our broken-down home." You had flowers all of that was assists of freedom. And all of that is why it felt like liberation when half a century later the Giles family moved across the street into the Taj Mahal. Some of the siblings pooled their money to buy the property.

성공의 유산 (18:16)"Which they're now renovating to use for family reunions and holiday gatherings." Eventually the plan is to put the house into trust so future generations of Giles will know the story and learn the lesson. That poverty doesn't have to beget poverty. That through education and determination poverty can breed success.

자녀들의 성취 (18:51)"Dorothea became a teacher Ruthie a nurse Roosevelt chairman of the board." But he says still a sharecropper in his soul. "It assure your appreciation of where you come from across the way." "And now we sit here instead of sitting over there we have a better life."

"최고의 선물 (19:26)"This holiday season many Americans will be unwrapping presents but for families like the Giles the greatest gift is the only gift that truly keeps on giving the sacrifice of those who made all this possible." As the Giles showed us the best way to spend the holiday is with family.

라몬트 토마스 (19:56)"And no one knows that better than the dad we met in Buffalo who's definitely on nice list this year." When 48 year old Lamont Thomas became an empty-nester it was the end of a parenting legend. Back in 2001 this divorced father of two took on a foster kid named Michael Perez.

"버펄로 만난 아빠가 그걸 잘 알아요. 올해 착한 리스트 확실." 48세 라몬트 토마스가 빈 둥지 됐을 때 전설 끝났죠. 2001년 이혼한 두 아이 아빠가 마이클 페레즈 위탁받았어요.

양육 전설 (20:31)"It was a good young man you know and I just hate it to see him in the system." Eventually Lamont adopted Michael who now works as a nurse. "I don't believe that I would be the person that I am today without the morals that he instilled in me."

"좋은 청년이었는데 시스템에 두기 싫었어요." 결국 입양했고 마이클은 지금 간호사예요. "그 도덕 없었으면 지금 나 아니었을 거예요.

"확장 가족 (21:06)"The family the extended family that I have now how extended is that if I had enough fingers and toes the counts." Turns out Michael was just the beginning. That's Marcus. Over the next 15 years Lamont fostered more than 30 kids here in Buffalo New York.

"확장 가족 많아요. 손가락 발가락 다 써도 모자라요." 마이클이 시작이었죠. 마커스예요. 15년간 버펄로에서 30명 넘게 위탁했어요.

새 가족 (21:41)"Hermine and adopted five of them JJ." And again he did this all on his own and with all of his heart. "Every child that I have had it was my goal to make a difference any life." "I fell in love with these kids huh yeah proud of them."

"다섯 남매 (22:16)"And you retired from fostering I did go fishing oh yeah did plenty of fishing trips love all of that." "Of course we wouldn't be here today if that was still the case yes sir." "It really was a shocker I didn't expect for him to restart and to do it all over again." Today Lamont is back in the game in a big way.

대가족 (22:51)"Not long ago he took on five siblings all under the age of six." "Man are you eating books." Lamont who works as a caterer says he did have other plans for these years. "I didn't think it was this but those plans have now been shattered with mayhem."

"미래 전망 (24:36)"But if not he's also fine going it alone for as long as it takes to make the difference." "Have you calculated when the last one is gonna be out of high school?" "We got a lot of years ago but it's all right it's all good." Lamont Thomas definitely oh good.

"혼자서도 차이 만들 때까지 할게요." "마지막 고교 졸업 언제예요?" "오랜 세월이지만 괜찮아요." 라몬트 토마스 최고예요.

3:20 Earlier this month in Kansas City Missouri, the Jackson County Sheriff's Department was out looking for people. And when they spotted a subject they went after him in a sting operation the likes of which this country has never seen.

3:35 Hello ma'am. Your vehicle was targeted. What made this operation especially unusual was the man behind it, a fellow in a red hat known to these men only as Secret Santa. We got a mission today to go out and do random acts of kindness

3:55 Every year this anonymous wealthy businessman gives out about $100,000 worth of hundred-dollar bills to random strangers. But this year instead of doing it all himself he'd a few ties these deputies to give away much of it. And so armed to the teeth with Benjamins the officers went out to do Santa's bidding.

4:20 They specifically went after people they thought would appreciate it most. Cars driving while dented or out on bondo were likely targets. Merry Christmas. You kidding! On my God! No!

Most people weren't just blown away. Most people were brought to tears.

Did that make your day better? Their reactions a combination of really needing the money.

4:39 And being caught so off-guard. How you doing ma'am? Why did you pull me over? Okay well, on behalf of Secret Santa he wants you to have this, okay?

4:58 Jessica Rodriguez, a mother of three told the deputy he saved her Christmas. Well I hope you maybe get you kids something with it. As always moments like that are the main mission here. Oh yeah you have good holiday season.

5:13 But this year Secret Santa also had a secret agenda. What do you want the officers to get out of this? Joy. You know as tough as they are and have hearts through bigger than the world. Let's face it. It hasn't been a good year for law enforcement.

5:28 But for the vast majority of decent officers who will never make headlines, Secret Santa offered this, a chance to be the bearer of good news for a change, a chance to really help the homeless to thank the law abiders, to see hands up in celebration and then be assaulted in the best possible way.

5:53 There were a lot of hugs. Our body cameras took a real beating but it was worth it just to see people trust again and to see cops surrender.

6:23 Ma'am how are you doing today? You ready for Christmas? A lot of people ignore the homeless but folks rushing past Moses elder may regret their haste because this week all people had to do was pay him some attention and he would pay them back in Benjamins.

6:42 So there's $100 for you. You can imagine the shock. $100 for you. Thank you. That's what Christmas is all about. Moses's mission was financed by Secret Santa, the same anonymous wealthy businessman who every year goes around the country handing out hundred-dollar bills to random strangers.

7:04 But this holiday season in addition to his normal giving he came here to Phoenix and recruited this most unlikely homeless elves. I want to enlist you to help me. So here's what we're gonna do. He gave Moses about three thousand dollars with the instruction to give it

away to whoever he saw fit.

7:32 I think this will be a joyful experience for him, you know, it's a myth that you know, the homeless just take. From my experience of people with least give the most of what they have. We saw that too.

7:42 Danny McCoy put change in the cup even though he has seven kids and until this moment... had no idea how he was going to buy Christmas presents. Eternally grateful for what he did. And that's the kind of relief Moses brought to so many here. Most of those he

blasts were strangers who just happened by.

8:01 But not all. He gave this guy from church $400. He gave this homeless mother of five, five hundred dollars. And remember people appreciate you with your caring giving heart to take care of your kids the way you do. Okay? Thank you.

Of course in the end Secret Santa also gave Moses some money to keep for himself. It's a new beginning for me.

8:31 But he says that reward pales to the joy he received from helping others. Today we changed a lot of people laughs but I believe my life was changed the most. He says even when you're homeless it feels so much better to give than receive. Yeah I don't know I'm

happier than y'all.

8:55 You know, kindness is a bridge between all people and so for ever down, you want to lift yourself up? Go do something kind for somebody.

9:03 It'll make you feel like way more than a hundred bucks. Santa told us he ran into Moses again just recently. He was helping serve food to other homeless people. The kindness continues.
