아직도 be동사를 가지고 1, 2형식 문장을 만드는 구간이다.

현재와 과거 시제로 배우면 됐지, 또 뭘로 말할지 궁금해 할 수도 있겠다.

생각해보면 영어의 시제는 이전에 배웠듯이 12개다. 

그럼 이 1, 2형식 문장도 12개로 만들어 볼 수 있다.

영어는 우리말처럼 조사가 없기 때문에 약간 조립하는 것과 같다.

아무렇게나 말해도 찰떡같이 알아 듣기는 하겠지만 맞는 건 아니라는 것이다. 

어쨌든 그러니까 시제를 문장에 바꿔 끼워 넣어보자.

미래시제 평서문 간다.

동사 자리에 will과 뒤에 be동사를 넣어주면 된다. 

이때 be동사(am, are, is, was, were)는 원형인 be를 쓴다. 

왜냐면 조동사 뒤에는 동사원형이 오기 때문이다.

The book will be on the table. 

The books will be on the shelves. 

The clock will be on the wall. 

The watch will be on my wrist. 

이렇게 된다. 일단 의미는 뒤로 제쳐두고, 모양을 배우자. 

will 그러니까 조동사는 주어의 단복수형에 따라 모양이 바뀌지 않으니, 

주어의 수일치와 상관없이 그냥 will을 쓰고 뒤에 be동사의 원형인 be를 쓰면 된다.

I will be an adult.

It will be a book.

This will be an apple.

의문문은 조동사가 앞으로 나오고, 뒤에 물음표를 넣어주기만 하면 끝난다.

Will the book be on the table?

Will the books be on the shelves?

Will the clock be on the wall?

Will the watch be on my wrist?

Will I be an adult?

Will it be a book?

Will this be an apple?

다음으로 평서문의 부정문과 의문문의 부정문을 가보자.

부정문은 will 뒤에 not이 오면 되는데, 부사의 위치 일앞조비뒤를 생각해보면 조동사 뒤니까, will not이 되어야 한다. 그리고 will not을 합치면 won’t으로도 쓸 수 있다. 

The book will not be on the table. > The book won’t be on the table.

The books will not be on the shelves. > The books won’t be on the shelves.

The clock will not be on the wall. > The clock won’t be on the wall.

The watch will not be on my wrist. > The watch won’t be on my wrist.

I will not be an adult. > I won’t be an adult.

It will not be a book. > It won’t be a book.

This will not be an apple. > This won’t be an apple.

의문문은 not과 함께 앞으로 가면 되는데, 이럴 때는 will not으로 쓰기보다는 won’t라고 합쳐서 써보자. 

Will not the book be on the table? > Won’t the book be on the table?

Will not the books be on the shelves? > Won’t the books be on the shelves?

Will not the clock be on the wall? > Won’t the clock be on the wall?

Will not the watch be on my wrist? > Won’t the watch be on my wrist?

Will not I be an adult? > Won’t I be an adult?

Will not it be a book? > Won’t it be a book?

Will not this be an apple? > Won’t this be an apple?

이렇게 쓸 수 있다.

이제 미래시제가 끝났다.

다음으로는 현재완료, 과거완료, 미래완료의 평서문, 의문문, 부정문을 이야기 해보겠다.

그리고 남은 시제 현재진행, 과거진행, 미래진행과 현재완료진행, 과거완료진행, 미래완료진행은 be동사의 진행형이 문법적으로는 없기 때문에 여기서는 다루지 않겠다.

이 여섯개의 시제는 일반동사에서 다루도록 하겠다.
