from such an adorable front of the hut?
no wonder the police mugshot includes
profile that is a three-dimensional figure.
the two-dimensional front face won’t
tell us about the real features of a person.
which looks of Savannah are you facing –
front or profile, two- or three dimensions?
four dimensions? wow! you are seeing
time pieces of Savanah in addition to
the aerial pictures taken by drones and
pictures taken by you and your friends
whose firm feet are set on this earth?
we’ll see in Savannah what is going to
happen in the near exciting future.

영어로 Profile은 원래 사람 얼굴 옆모습이라는 뜻인데, 뜻이 확장되어 어떤 사람의 경력이나 신상명세라는 뜻으로 쓰인다. 사람 얼굴의 앞모습과 옆모습은 사뭇 다른 것을 알 수 있는데, 앞모습은 2차원이고, 옆모습은 3차원이라, 옆모습이 그 사람 얼굴의 참 모습일 것이다. 그래서 경찰서에서 용의자의 얼굴을 찍을 때 앞모습과 함께 옆모습도 찍는 이유이다. 시인은 Wormsloe Plantation에서 오두막 집을 보고 잘 보존이 되었구나 생각했는데, 집 옆의 차양이 쓰러질 듯이 기울어져 있는 것을 보고, 앞모습과 옆모습이 이렇게 다르구나 하고 시상을 떠올렸다. 사바나에 지은 현대차 멋있는 현대차 공장이 얼마 전 그 아름답지 않은 옆모습을 드러냈지만, 결국은 앞, 옆, 뒤, 좌우, 동서남북, 하늘 어디서 보든 멋있는 공장으로 번성하기를 바라는 마음에서 시를 쓴다.
