at the lake

life@the Prarie

For the last 3 weeks on Sunday Jim and I went out for something fun. So this is about the 3rd time things after shooting and golfing.

Actually we were supposed to go for downstream canoeing in Assiniboine river but I thought that the water level in the river wasn't good enough for pleasant boating so I decided to go for plan B.

It was fishing & canoeing in the lake.

On arrival we tried offshore fishing for a while with no luck and we needed to stuff our stomachs with something before we go  paddle into the  middle of lake of Batka.

Jim took my photo and sent it to me. I looked so lonely and small crouching in the bench and smoking seemingly with no passion. Poor Peter.. :p

Bacon, sausage, mushrooms, fresh cornes with some potato salad was our menu.

See how happy was Jim with some meat!! LoL

You know what, I forgot to bring a pair of paddles for canoeing though!! What!!??

Can we improvise paddles? No way..

Anyway I was about to go back to town to buy something to eat so it wasn't really an extra work bringing the paddles.  But what a shame.. :p

All of a sudden there were bunch of other families arrived for cayaking & fishing and Batka dock was clowded with people.

WE WILL BE BACK WITH FULL OF FISHES!

Maybe we were too proud..

Casting & waiting for nothing, moving to other seemingly sweet spot and casting-and-waiting with patience, moving again, patience lasted longer and longer.. on and on and on..

Nothing.

And nothing..

Jim renamed lake as No Fish Lake. Ha-ha

Still nothing..

More nothing..

no nibbling even..

Instead we shared lots of thoughts around anything we came up with, like language, verbal processor dedicated to our brain cortex, a 'system', our solar system, Einstein and other humans, Montreal, daughter & son both of us have, theoretical physics, mathematical tools, space and time, probability, existence of advanced beings somewhere far beyond, etc, etc..

And Jim told me a story about the mystery bird who came visit him and stayed him for a while. What a touching moment of encounter of a human and a bird under mutual trust. Jim even took this photo and the bird didn't try to fly away!

Before we were leaving Batka we found that only a cute little boy caught a decent sized Jack fish beating all other proud adults 'fishermen'.. :p

And back home with some good fatigue.

What's next? God knows.. :p
