Waking from hibernation

驚蟄 [15] / [20]

"Lucia Bari,"

Cynthia quietly repeated the word to herself.

"It should be the name of someone, shouldn't it?"

she asked.

"It seems so,"

Alexander googled the word, nonna.

"It's an Italian word. Grandmother,"

Alexander told Cynthia. Cynthia didn't reply right away. She was lost in thought.

"If I were to guess very simply, he has a grandmother whose name is Lucia Bari,"

she said.

"Was he so very close to her that he would carve her name into his own flesh?"

Alexander asked, stunned.

"John didn't say anything about someone named Lucia, or Bari."

"Whoever she is, she must be very close to this guy. Let's get started, beginning with this name."

They said thank you to the man at the front desk, and left the morgue.

After getting back to the office, Alexander made an inquiry about anyone by the name of Lucia Bari living in the vicinity of Sarah's address: the place of the alleged murder.

The age range was from 50s~90s. But there was no Bari, a Lucia, nor any similar such name. He put forth only the name Lucia, and, again, only the supposed surname Bari. But nothing.

Alexander was disappointed, and he thought there should be someone who has that name. Lucia was not such a rare name as to be nonexistent.

"Extend the range from the address,"

Cynthia told him. He did, but with no result.

"He could be from another place."

"It could be a fake name, or nickname,"

Alexander said.

"We shouldn't be obsessed too much with this name."

"I know, but there's nothing else we can go on."

Cynthia sounded disappointed also. But almost simultaneously she said,

"Hold on," she googled the name.

"Bari probably means the city in Italy.”

"Do we have to ask cooperation from the Italian police to find Lucia of Bari?"

Alexander asked.

"If it's possible. But Lucia doesn't seem a very rare name in that city. Besides, we can't be sure that the city and name are related, there are too many possibilities."

Cynthia told him this while looking at her computer monitor.

"The problem is, they might view it as too much trouble if we ask them to find Lucia when we can't offer them any specific information about her."

Even if they go to Italy by themselves, it still would not be an easy task to find a person.
