驚蟄 [16] / [20]
Besides, who was to say she was in Italy. They had nothing to go off of at this point.
"I want to know what the number means,"
Cynthia said. It seemed far too difficult to find out who this body belonged to.
"Anyway, how was the mummy preserved?"
"Oh, that's what John found out. He requested an autopsy from the forensic pathologist."
she handed over the report to Alexander. Alexander began to read it. It seemed that the same poison she used to kill her victims―potassium cyanide―was also used in preparing their bodies for mummification.
"Cyanide doesn't just kill the body," she said,
"It also kills the microorganisms that aid in breaking down dead tissues. It actually retards the decomposition process."
Alexander put down the report when he finished reading it.
"So she was knocking out two birds with one stone. The poison had a dual purpose,"
said Alexander with a shudder. This was almost his future.
"What else did they find out?"
he asked.
“The victim consumed quite a bit of alcohol prior to his death. This suggests a similar MO, luring men back to her apartment after disarming them with drink and charm, only to ply them with more alcohol, laced with a deadly toxin that slowly suffocates them to death from the inside. She's obviously been doing this for a long time."
"She's experienced," Alexander assented,
"that much is clear, and she has the process down to a science."
"She might be."
They both fell into silence, reading the reports for awhile. This was the first time they had a change throughly read through all of the reports John handed over to them.
There were 4 similar cases, in addition to Alexander's. One was obviously committed by Sarah, but another 3 cases were unclear. One victim survived, but 2 other presumed victims were just missing.
There were commonalities between these two missing cases. The missing persons were both guys, 20 years old, who hung around a beautiful woman for a while, and had disappeared after traveling abroad with her. So they could only guess the woman might be Sarah, nobody else.
Meanwhile, reports associated with one case revealed the potential victim survived an attempted murder by a woman, but the victim's identity wasn't revealed.
"Why is that? What kind of person who was about to be killed wants to hide themselves from being discovered?"
