The letter was from Edward Hawthorne, a young physicist renowned at the London Society. He had moved in next door to Elena. His arrival, single and strikingly handsome, caused quite a stir in the town, but Elena was even more intrigued by his academic paper.
A few days later, Elena ran into him by chance in the library. He was holding Maxwell's equations, and she had left a note on the next page. "Is this footnote... your handwriting?" he asked. His voice was low and composed, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. Elena was taken aback, but nodded. "It's just... I think the experimental interpretation is a little lacking." He smiled. "Well, Miss Wintering, would you like to work with me to fill in the gaps?"
From that day on, the two began working together weekly in a small laboratory next to the garden. The flow of electricity, the refraction of light, the concept of time—everything took on a new meaning for them. When their hands brushed during their experiments, Elena trembled like a rose petal, and Edward took that trembling as music: Twilight Carol. The girl stole a love magic potion from her aunt and tried to spread it in Elena's laboratory, but Elena's laboratory was already full of love.
