Sally the Fairy 5 : Letters to December

In the village, the girl had no friends her own age. Her only friend was Miss Elena Winterling. These days, Miss Elena spends more time in her study than in the garden. She was fascinated by Newton's principles and Faraday's experiments, and at night, she quietly read the theory of electromagnetism by candlelight. Her family considered her somewhat eccentric, but Elena loved her own world. She loved hearing science stories from Miss Elena. It was understandable, for her aunts, her only teachers, taught her magic. Today, too, the girl went to Miss Elena's house to see her. Her house was decked out in Christmas decorations, eagerly awaiting Christmas. As she was preparing cake for afternoon tea, the doorbell rang and a letter arrived. It was a striking letter, stamped with a luxurious candle wax seal. "Who sent this letter to me?" Miss Elena's voice trembled with excitement.
