  나는 죽음에 대한 저항을 바다에서 찾는다. 이에 거대 자연을 표현하기 위해 하루 종일 바다를 관찰할 때도 있다. 바다의 빛이 가장 리드미컬하게 움직이는 시간, 그건 역시 태양의 침몰 전후. 바다는 불덩이의 고저에 따라 시시각각 색채를 부리며 춤을 추는 마법사다. 그 움직임을 같은 공간에 서서 가볍게 기록하며, 매일 탄생과 퇴색을 반복하는 바다와 하나가 된다. 그 시각 나라는 존재가 그 자리에서 볼 수 있는 망막 속 바다는 단 하나의 찰나. 그러나 바다의 물결과 시간은 점이 아니라 선과 면이다. 그렇게 무한한 바다의 시간과 흐름을 하나로 잇는다.

  I seek resistance to life and death from the sea. Often, in preparation for expressing the vastness of nature, I spend whole days observing the sea. The time when the sea's light moves most rhythmically is undoubtedly just after the sun rises and just before it sets. The sea is like a magician, dancing with changing colors as the fireball of the sun changes its height. I enter the same space, quickly catch and record its movements as sketch, and become one with the sea that repeats birth and fading every day. At that moment, the sea within the retinas where my existence is witnessed is but a single instant. However, the movement of the sea and time are not points but lines and surfaces. I gather and connect the boundless, ongoing time and flow of the sea into one.

  私は生と死への抵抗を海から探し出している。その作業前持って海という巨大な自然を表現するために一日中海を観察することが多々ある。海の光が一番リズミカルに動く時間はやはり太陽が浮き上がる直後と沈没する直前。海は火玉の高さによって時々刻々色彩を振りながら踊る魔法使いだ。私は同じ空間に立ち入って、その動きを素早く記録し、毎日誕生と消滅を繰り返す海と一つになる。その時、己の存在がその場で観られる網膜中の海はたった一つの刹那。だが、海の動きと時間は点ではなく、線と面でできている。その限りなく生き続けている海の時間と流れを一つにまとめ結ぶのだ。
