개역개정 잠언 13장
1. 지혜로운 아들은 아비의 훈계를 들으나 거만한 자는 꾸지람을 즐겨 듣지 아니하느니라
A wise son heeds his fatherʼs instruction,
but a mocker does not respond to rebukes.
2. 사람은 입의 열매로 인하여 복록을 누리거니와 마음이 궤사한 자는 강포를 당하느니라
From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things,
but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence.
4. 게으른 자는 마음으로 원하여도 얻지 못하나 부지런한 자의 마음은 풍족함을 얻느니라
A sluggardʼs appetite is never filled,
but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.
7. 스스로 부한 체하여도 아무 것도 없는 자가 있고 스스로 가난한 체하여도 재물이 많은 자가 있느니라
One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing;
another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
8. 사람의 재물이 자기 생명의 속전일 수 있으나 가난한 자는 협박을 받을 일이 없느니라
A personʼs riches may ransom their life,
but the poor cannot respond to threatening rebukes.
9. 의인의 빛은 환하게 빛나고 악인의 등불은 꺼지느니라
The light of the righteous shines brightly,
but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.
10. 교만에서는 다툼만 일어날 뿐이라 권면을 듣는 자는 지혜가 있느니라
Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
13. 말씀을 멸시하는 자는 자기에게 패망을 이루고 계명을 두려워하는 자는 상을 받느니라
Whoever scorns instruction will pay for it,
but whoever respects a command is rewarded.
15. 선한 지혜는 은혜를 베푸나 사악한 자의 길은 험하니라
Good judgment wins favor,
but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.
16. 무릇 슬기로운 자는 지식으로 행하거니와 미련한 자는 자기의 미련한 것을 나타내느니라
All who are prudent act with knowledge,
but fools expose their folly.
