1절
악을 행하는 사람들 때문에 마음 상해하지 말고,
불의한 자들을 부러워하지 마라.
Do not fret because of evildoers,
nor be envious of those who do wrong.
2절
그들은 풀처럼 금방 잘리고,
푸른 풀처럼 시들어버릴 것이다.
For they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like green plants.
3절
여호와를 신뢰하고, 선을 행하라.
땅에 머무르며, 성실함을 양식 삼아 살아라.
Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4절
여호와를 기뻐하라.
그분이 네 마음의 소원을 이루어 주실 것이다.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
and He will give you the desires of your heart.
5절
네 길을 여호와께 맡기고,
그분을 신뢰하라.
그분이 이루실 것이다.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in Him, and He will act.
6절
그는 네 의로움을 빛처럼 나타내시고,
네 공의를 한낮처럼 드러내실 것이다.
He will bring forth your righteousness like the dawn,
your justice like the noonday sun.
7절
여호와 앞에 잠잠히 기다리며,
성급하게 성공하는 자 때문에 불평하지 말라.
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way.
8절
화를 멈추고 분노를 버려라.
불평하지 마라. 그것은 해가 될 뿐이다.
Refrain from anger and forsake wrath;
do not fret—it only leads to evil.
9절
악을 행하는 자들은 끊어질 것이나,
여호와를 소망하는 자들은 땅을 차지하리라.
For evildoers shall be cut off,
but those who hope in the Lord shall inherit the land.
10절
조금 있으면 악인은 사라지고,
네가 그를 찾아도 보이지 않을 것이다.
In a little while, the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11절
그러나 온유한 자들은 땅을 차지하고,
풍성한 평화를 누릴 것이다.
But the meek shall inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.
12절
악인은 의인을 해치려 꾀하며,
그를 향해 이를 간다.
The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them.
13절
그러나 주께서는 그를 비웃으신다.
그의 날이 가까운 줄을 아시기 때문이다.
But the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for He sees that their day is coming.
14절
악인들은 칼을 빼고 활을 당겨
가난하고 궁핍한 자를 쓰러뜨리고,
정직한 자를 죽이려 한다.
The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15절
그러나 그들의 칼은 자기들의 심장을 찌르고,
그들의 활은 부러진다.
But their sword shall pierce their own heart,
and their bows shall be broken.
16절
의인의 적은 소유가
많은 악인의 풍요보다 낫다.
Better the little that the righteous have
than the abundance of many wicked.
17절
악인의 팔은 꺾이지만,
여호와께서는 의인을 붙드신다.
For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.
18절
여호와께서 온전한 자의 날을 아시며,
그들의 유산은 영원하다.
The Lord knows the days of the blameless,
and their inheritance shall last forever.
19절
그들은 재난의 때에도 수치를 당하지 않으며,
기근의 날에도 풍족할 것이다.
They will not be put to shame in times of trouble;
in days of famine they will have plenty.
20절
악인들은 멸망할 것이며,
여호와의 원수들은 연기처럼 사라진다.
But the wicked will perish;
the enemies of the Lord will vanish—like smoke they vanish away.
21절
악인은 꾸고도 갚지 않지만,
의인은 은혜를 베풀고 나누어 준다.
The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous are generous and give.
22절
주께 복 받은 자는 땅을 차지하고,
저주 받은 자는 끊어질 것이다.
Those the Lord blesses shall inherit the land,
but those He curses will be cut off.
23절
사람의 걸음은 여호와께서 인도하시고,
그의 길을 기뻐하신다.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,
and He delights in his way.
24절
넘어질 수는 있으나 완전히 쓰러지지 않으니,
여호와께서 손으로 붙드신다.
Though he falls, he shall not be cast down,
for the Lord upholds him with His hand.
25절
내가 젊었을 때부터 늙을 때까지
의인이 버림받거나
그 자손이 빵을 구걸하는 것을 본 적이 없다.
I have been young, and now am old,
yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his children begging for bread.
26절
그는 항상 은혜를 베풀고 꾸어주며,
그 자손은 복을 받는다.
He is ever merciful and lends,
and his children are blessed.
27절
악에서 떠나 선을 행하라.
그리하면 영원히 살 것이다.
Depart from evil and do good;
so shall you dwell forevermore.
28절
여호와는 정의를 사랑하시며,
그분의 성도들을 버리지 않으신다.
그들은 영원히 보호받지만,
악인의 자손은 끊어질 것이다.
For the Lord loves justice
and does not forsake His saints;
they are preserved forever,
but the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.
29절
의인들이 땅을 차지하고,
영원히 거기에 거할 것이다.
The righteous shall inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.
30절
의인의 입은 지혜를 말하고,
그의 혀는 공의를 이야기한다.
The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom,
and his tongue talks of justice.
31절
그의 마음에는 하나님의 법이 있으니,
그의 발걸음이 흔들리지 않는다.
The law of his God is in his heart;
none of his steps shall slide.
32절
악인이 의인을 엿보고
그를 죽이려 하지만,
The wicked watches the righteous
and seeks to kill him.
33절
여호와께서는 그를 그 손에 넘기지 않으시고,
재판 때에 정죄당하지 않게 하신다.
The Lord will not leave him in his hand,
nor let him be condemned when he is judged.
34절
여호와를 바라고, 그의 길을 지켜라.
그분이 너를 높이실 것이며,
네가 땅을 차지하는 것을 보게 될 것이다.
Wait on the Lord and keep His way,
and He shall exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.
35절
내가 악인이 번성하는 것을 보았는데,
그는 우람한 나무처럼 당당했다.
I have seen a wicked man in great power,
spreading himself like a green tree.
36절
그러나 그가 지나가니,
더는 보이지 않았다.
내가 찾아보았으나,
그는 사라지고 없었다.
Yet he passed away, and lo, he was no more;
I sought him, but he could not be found.
37절
온전한 사람을 살피고,
정직한 사람을 지켜보라.
평화의 사람에겐 미래가 있다.
Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;
for the future of that man is peace.
38절
그러나 범죄자들은 함께 멸망할 것이고,
악인의 끝은 끊어질 것이다.
But transgressors shall be destroyed together;
the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
39절
의인들의 구원은 여호와께 있고,
환난 때에 그분은 그들의 요새가 되신다.
The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord;
He is their strength in the time of trouble.
40절
여호와께서 그들을 도우시고 건지시며,
악인에게서 구원하신다.
이는 그들이 주를 의지하기 때문이다.
The Lord shall help them and deliver them;
He shall deliver them from the wicked
and save them, because they trust in Him.
