Blessing vs. Cursing

Judges 21:1-12

1 The men of Israel had taken an oath at Mizpah: "Not one of us will give his daughter in marriage to a Benjamite."2 The people went to Bethel, where they sat before God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly.3"O LORD, the God of Israel, " they cried, "why has this happened to Israel? Why should one tribe be missing from Israel today?"4 Early the next day, the people built an altar and presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings.

Here are the Israelites complaining about what they did to God, as well as blaming the terrible massacre for Him, even calling His name and crying aloud, and saying, "why has this happened to Israel?" It was themselves who even made an oath of not giving any daughters in marriage to their sons. When we are upset or reaching to the point of hitting the ceiling, we could make this kind of oaths to others, as a sign of cursing or determination of our minds, saying, 'As if I did it, I would make one of my fingers burn in fire and so on.'

I did a totally different kind of oath to God and I even announced my family members and acquaintances about donating all the money I get from the publishing company to the orphanage in Thailand, if my book were chosen as one of the brunch book-publishing honors. It was not a kind of my determination or deal with God, but it was only my desire to give them more money. However, I feel like I will have to do that, even though it does not happen to me, as my God let my know that I am affordable to do that, if I willingly open my wallet for them.

The successful life depends on my God and at the same time it is up to our choices and actions. Most of all, the words popping out of our mouths that stay in the deep heart and mind have the power to lead our lives blessed and prosperous. So I need to watch out for that, I mean, I'll have to check if the words that are coming out of my mouth are good or bad, and a blessing or a cursing.

For,“All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you. (Peter1:24-25)
