Withered Joy

Joel 1:1-12

1 The word of the Lord that came to Joel son of Pethuel.

12 The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree— all the trees of the field—are dried up. Surely the people’s joy is withered away.

The warning of the people through Joel, the prophet, comes to the end that the people's joy is withered away. How sad and terrible it sounds to my ears and the worst thing is that these days people's joy seems to disappear from homes and society due to Covid 19 and many kinds of mental and psychological sickness and the economic difficulties and so on.

Most of all, these problems that look like the same disasters as the period of Joel don't lead to the confession of humans' sin and faults, rather we are far away from God and the Word of God, saying, safety first, and there is no God on earth. With the doors of churches closed, I can't hear the gospel songs on the streets, and I even saw some decorated trees written Merry Holidays. Actually, these could be not that important, but at least It shows the reality of these days.

I feel like I need to pray for me and my family members and my mom whose joy would be recovered right now and rejoice in His peace and be happy with His abundant love.

We write this to make our joy complete. (1John 1:4)
