Nahum 2:1-13
Nineveh to Fall
2 An attacker advances against you, Nineveh. Guard the fortress, watch the road, brace yourselves, marshal all your strength! 2 The Lord will restore the splendor of Jacob
like the splendor of Israel, though destroyers have laid them waste
and have ruined their vines.
5 Nineveh summons her picked troops, yet they stumble on their way. They dash to the city wall; the protective shield is put in place. 6 The river gates are thrown open and the palace collapses. 7 It is decreed that Nineveh be exiled and carried away. Her female slaves moan like doves and beat on their breasts. 8 Nineveh is like a pool whose water is draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back. Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold!
The supply is endless, the wealth from all its treasures!
13 “I am against you,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will burn up your chariots in smoke,
and the sword will devour your young lions. I will leave you no prey on the earth.
The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
I start this meditation by reading aloud and recording it and put it on a sharing space I have started at first 2 and a half years ago. Every time I do it, I feel something strange in my mind, which reminds me of something I have forgotten long. This morning, this scene reminds me of Russia, the Putin who triggered the war against Ukraine without any reasonable reasons. However, the most strange thing is that the world is just watching it, not caring for it, like nothing happened in the world.
We call this period the global world, where we are all connected together. Right! We get the information on the fierce and terrible war like a reality show, but we do nothing for that. I feel like it's a movie scene I have watched on TV with my brothers in a dark room covering a blanket. Sadly, this is not a movie, but a reality happening in this world where we are living together, but we just watch it.
Hopefully, I feel like God would do something for this war under God's plan, because God have worked throughout the history. He is not the one who just watch without doing anything. So I have hope for this situation, but I will keep praying for the people who are suffering and dying because of this modern massacre.
Nahum (/ˈneɪ.əm/ or /ˈneɪhəm/; Hebrew: נַחוּם Naḥūm) was a prophet and he wrote about the end of the Assyrian Empire, and its capital city, Nineveh. Here Nineveh seems like Russia that does not stop performing a war as an attacker, a destroyer, and a plunder etc. But God would proclaim that I am against You, Russia. Before the country is destroyed and disappeared from the history, it should stop the war right now and return from the place of perishing and condemnations. "God is against you!" declares the Lord Almighty.
