A Blissful Life

Ruth 2:14-23

14 At mealtime, Boaz said to her, “Come over here. Have some bread and dip it in the wine vinegar.” When she sat down with the harvesters, he offered her some roasted grain. She ate all she wanted and had some left over. 15 As she got up to glean, Boaz gave orders to his men, “Let her gather among the sheaves and don’t reprimand her. 16 Even pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up, and don’t rebuke her.”

Boaz looks so kind and caring that he even told his servants to pull out some stalks for her from the bundles and leave them for her to pick up. Actually, gleaning means to pick up the grains fallen down, but he told them to do it intentionally for her. He must be a good man and It tells me how to treat others when I show any kindness to others.

Boaz was a man of blessing others, saying, "The Lord be with you!" to his servants. I have never seen this kind of scene in the bible. And they called back, saying, "The Lord bless you!", which sounds like a feast happening in there, even in the midst of famine around the area. The place was blessed a lot, so that was the reason why Naomi determined to come back to her hometown, Judah. So was Naomi blessing her daughters-in-law, saying, "May the Lord show kindness to you..." before she came out of Moab.

Secondly, Boaz seems to take care not to hurt her heart and keep her pride, by not just giving grains to her, rather by letting her pick up the grains for herself. Also, he treated her nicely in a fair way with his servants, eating together.

Thirdly, he is very generous by letting her fully eat good food and having leftover that could be for her mother-in-law. He shows how to treat others who are good and faithful, but the poor around me. For a short time, I have been checking myself how I am doing nowadays: Blessing, giving fully, and caring for them. It's not enough, but I think it's not bad. I'll keep doing it and continue to have a blissful life like Boaz.
