4. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 사람을 지으신 이가 본래 저희를 남자와 여자로 만드시고
4. “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’
5. 말씀하시기를 이러므로 사람이 그 부모를 떠나서 아내에게 합하여 그 둘이 한 몸이 될찌니라 하신 것을 읽지 못하였느냐
5. and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ ?
6. 이러한즉 이제 둘이 아니요 한 몸이니 그러므로 하나님이 짝지어 주신 것을 사람이 나누지 못할찌니라 하시니
6. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
These days, I have seen and heard of divorced families more often than before, and I thought it was another story that would not happen to me. However, recently, my younger brother got divorced, because of a financial problem that was caused by Covid 19, but the basic cause was, I think, because of the lack of conceptual clarity on marital importance and the meaning of it, so most of them ends up with marrital breakdown very quickly and emotionally.
Divorce itself must be a painful experience of hurting each other, children, and even close families as well, feeling like one body being torn into two as they were one flesh according to the bible, even though they are non-believers of God.
Watching it in real life, I felt that this wicked and evil society is igniting these kinds of divorce to happen. I mean the value of humans and marriage has been changing, making people underestimate the value of one famaily, so I believe that we Christians should try to keep preaching the gospel in order to make it anew and this is one of our missions that God want us to do.
