21. 예수께서 가라사대 무엇을 원하느뇨 가로되 이 나의 두 아들을 주의 나라에서 하나는 주의 우편에, 하나는 주의 좌편에 앉게 명하소서
21. “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”
22. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 너희 구하는 것을 너희가 알지 못하는도다 나의 마시려는 잔을 너희가 마실 수 있느냐 저희가 말하되 할 수 있나이다
22. “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.
28. 인자가 온것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라
28. just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
33. 가라사대 너희에게 무엇을 하여주기를 원하느냐 가로되 주여 우리 눈 뜨기를 원하나이다
33. “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34. 예수께서 민망히 여기사 저희 눈을 만지시니 곧 보게 되어 저희가 예수를 좇으니라
34. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.
The two sons of Zebedee didn't seem to know what they are asking for, but the two blind men knew for sure of what they wanted. They wanted their sight!
The two sons must have desired sitting beside of Jesus, so that they might get honored and spotlighted from many people, like entertainers or movie stars who have been nominated by Oscar. It must be an honor and an exciting and a lifetime experience, but the way of the Cross about which Jesus was talking and preparing for was totally different from it, rather 100% the opposite of it: mocking, spitting, flogging, and crucifixion with tear and torn dresses on, bleeding red blood, not seemingly looking good at all: No shiny make-up faces or beautiful and extravagant dresses on a red carpet.
I remind of a beautiful actress who served the poor children in Africa, after leaving the stage of well-known pictures, which shows me what the way of Cross is and how I should walk the way. It doesn't matter where I work or in what position I am in and what I am called in my community or society. The first check point I should do as a so-called Christian is that whether i know for sure what I want to do like the blind men: Seeing or still being blind or half-blind.
Father, I want to see Your Kingdom and Your Glory and i also want to have the mind and heart of Jesus. Let me love my neighbors as myself, as Jesus had loved me, I pray in the precious and glorious name, Jesus, amen.
