마태복음(Mat) 21장

19. 길 가에서 한 무화과나무를 보시고 그리로 가사 잎사귀 밖에 아무 것도 얻지 못하시고 나무에게 이르시되 이제부터 영원토록 네게 열매가 맺지 못하리라 하시니 무화과나무가 곧 마른지라
19. Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.
20. 제자들이 보고 이상히 여겨 가로되 무화과나무가 어찌하여 곧 말랐나이까
20. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked.
21. 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 만일 너희가 믿음이 있고 의심치 아니하면 이 무화과나무에게 된 이런 일만 할뿐 아니라 이 산더러 들려 바다에 던지우라 하여도 될것이요
21. Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.
On watching the quickly withered fig tree, Jesus' deciples seem to be amazed at its result and the power of it, but to me, it makes me think of my life. Do I have fruits of the Holy Spirit or not?
Am I going to be praised or cursed by my Father, who is expecting some fruits like figs through my life? I have believed so and I was thankful for that, even though it doesn't look so big enough to make many people pleased with and satisfied at.
However, when I heard my son talking about my words and life, it was like denying all my life that was dedicated to my children and churches. No one is perfect and neither am I. His opinion could be wrong and it could have come from any other greed or expectations of something from me, but it was hurting me a lot and I feel like everything is meaningless, as the bible says.
Children must be and should be one of my precious fruits of my life, regardless of parents or Christians. If I don't have or expect any fruits from them, what should I do?
This is my today's prayer that needs a bigger faith than before, because I have prayed for him and his faith. Father, let me have wisdom and courage, so that I could keep praying and growing up to have Jesus' power and authority of changing.
