5. 저희 모든 행위를 사람에게 보이고자 하여 하나니 곧 그 차는 경문을 넓게 하며 옷술을 크게 하고
5. “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long;
11. 너희 중에 큰 자는 너희를 섬기는 자가 되어야 하리라
11. The greatest among you will be your servant.
12. 누구든지 자기를 높이는 자는 낮아지고 누구든지 자기를 낮추는 자는 높아지리라
12. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.
The phylacteries are worn around the wrist and arms and also around the forehead of Jews at prayer service as the Scriptures told them to do. It looks very interesting and impressing because they seemingly try to keep the commandments of God.
I think that we need to do like that in reality as many seem to forget the Word and get to the point of ignoring it, these days. However, the problem is that they didn't practice in life, while they put burdens of many kinds of law on others' shoulders, without lifting their fingers to move them.
The biggest problem is that no one including me gets freed from this waring of Jesus. In particular, those who are teaching and preaching, as parents, teachers, politicians, pastors, and presidents, could be one of them. Just a few minutes ago, my son talked about spiritual pride and judgment that my husband and I have, and it sounded like a warning from God. We worried about his faith and the attitude of life, while he is worried about parent's weakness. My husband and I like to talk each other about many issues around us, including churches, so we didn't care about him, but his thought about it was totally different. I mean it was the opposite.
We wanted my children to learn from us, who are talking and discussing many issues frankly, but it was not so effective, rather we gave him negative effects.
I had to admit that my husband and I were wrong, and I as a mom should be wise in the way I act toward outsiders and children, and I will have to have conversation with anyone, always full of grace, seasoned with salt (Col.4:6). Above all, from the depth of my heart, I think i should learn humbleness again and from the beginning through my good teacher Jesus, and my wise Father.
