Blessings or Curses
축복 아니면 저주
신명기(Deu) 11장
18. 이러므로 너희는 나의 이 말을 너희의 마음과 뜻에 두고 또 그것을 너희의 손목에 매어 기호를 삼고 너희 미간에 붙여 표를 삼으며
18. Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
19. 또 그것을 너희의 자녀에게 가르치며 집에 앉아 있을 때에든지, 길을 갈 때에든지, 누워 있을 때에든지, 일어날 때에든지 이 말씀을 강론하고
19. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
20. 또 네 집 문설주와 바깥 문에 기록하라
20. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,
21. 그리하면 여호와께서 너희 조상들에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에서 너희의 날과 너희의 자녀의 날이 많아서 하늘이 땅을 덮는 날과 같으리라
21. so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.
26. 내가 오늘 복과 저주를 너희 앞에 두나니
26. See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse—
27. 너희가 만일 내가 오늘 너희에게 명하는 너희의 하나님 여호와의 명령을 들으면 복이 될 것이요
27. the blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today;
28. 너희가 만일 내가 오늘 너희에게 명령하는 도에서 돌이켜 떠나 너희의 하나님 여호와의 명령을 듣지 아니하고 본래 알지 못하던 다른 신들을 따르면 저주를 받으리라
28. the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.
32. 내가 오늘 너희 앞에 베푸는 모든 규례와 법도를 너희는 지켜 행할지니라
32. be sure that you obey all the decrees and laws I am setting before you today.
The Israelites who were about to go into the land had never seen or experienced God's miraculous works He had done to their fathers and forefathers. So the reason God was repeatedly saying about teaching them about what He had done and His commands with all kinds of ways of writing and tying on the hands and foreheads, and even on the doorframe and gates as well and also talking to their children whenever they have chances, like lying down, getting up, eating, sitting, walking and so on is that Keeping His Words could bring blessings.
At the same time, He was also commenting on the curses that He had set before them, as well as the blessings that they could get. He was saying about the condition very clearly: Obeying to keep it or not.
However, if they don't know what it is, they would never have chances of keeping it, so talking and teaching is very important for parents to teach our children God's Words and to talk about our experiences of His having been with us.
As i feel responsible for parenting my young adults, so i do for my neighbors as well who never know about God, and His Words and Works. I am sure that talking about it is the act of loving my neighbors like myself as He had commanded me to do today and it is the first and foremost duty of mine and the best way of getting blessings as well.
