Germany’s Greens and Free Democrats—two parties set to become kingmakers in any coalition that may emerge after the country’s federal election—said they would hold talks before meeting the two parties vying for their support. The left-leaning Social Democrats narrowly beat the centre-right Christian Democratic Union in Sunday’s vote. Both said they will try to form a government. But the Greens and Free Democrats are divided on taxes and renewable energy, and will first need to decide if they can work together.

The ad-free “kids” app would have let parents supervise their children’s browsing. Instagram said it would address the problem of pre-teen users misrepresenting their age to make accounts. In a now-deleted message, one power company warned that outages will become the “new normal”. A surge in coal prices has led to electricity shortages across the country. Many factories have stopped or cut output in recent weeks.

COVAX, the global vaccine-sharing partnership, will rewrite its rules in order to steer more supply to countries with less coverage, according to Reuters. Current allocations, based on population size, entitled rich countries to COVAX doses even when they have been buying them from other sources. COVAX has already shipped 300m doses to 140 countries, despite glitches in supply and distribution.
