Ethiopia’s government said it is clearing out Tigrayan rebel forces from two northern regions. According to a government spokesperson, the army has made “considerable gains in reversing the occupation” in Amhara and Afar. The Tigray People’s Liberation Front, however, claims to have withdrawn from these regions as a step towards a ceasefire.

Donald Trump sued New York’s attorney-general, Letitia James, in an attempt to stop her civil investigation into his business dealings. Ms James is seeking to question him under oath in January as part of her inquiry. The former president, who is notoriously litigious, accused Ms James of seeking to “harass” and “intimidate” him. Her office called the suit a delaying tactic.
