Chime Financial Stock Soars in Nasdaq Debut (WSJ. 20250612)

U.S. stocks fell in early trading before reversing course in the afternoon as investors shrugged off fresh tariff threats from President Trump. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 102 points to close at 42,968. The S&P 500 was up 23 points and the Nasdaq advanced 47 points. Among individual companies, in the latest sign of an improving IPO market FinTech company, Chime Financial, had its stock market debut. Shares of the company jumped nearly 50% from their IPO price of $27 and ended the day up 37%. Oracle logged higher than expected quarterly results as it grew 11% to 15.9 billion in the fourth quarter. Exceeding analyst expectations, shares of the company jumped 13%. Biotech company BioNTech has agreed to buy its German peer CureVac in a deal valued at around $1.25 billion. The two companies were once rivals racing to develop COVID-19 vaccines. Shares of CureVac Rose 38% while BioNTech dropped half a percent. GameStop said it planned to issue 1.75 billion of convertible notes. Shares of the video game retailer and meme stock plunged 22%. And Adobe raised its full year outlook after posting higher than expected revenue in the fiscal second quarter. Shares of the software maker were roughly flat in early hours trading.
