Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Amazon Expand Streaming Distribution Agreements (WSJ. 20250828)
Comcast's NBCUniversal and Amazon have expanded distribution agreements to open up access to their streaming content on each other's platforms. The companies said today that customers will be able to access subscriptions to NBCUniversal's Peacock streaming app on the Prime Video platform and Fire TV. Meanwhile, Prime Video content will be available on NBCUniversal's Xfinity X1 devices. Plus Best Buy posted a surprise, a sales increase in the second quarter as spending on electronics held up, even as the company raised prices on some items to offset tariffs. Best Buy reported that second quarter sales rose to $9.44 billion from $9.29 billion a year earlier with comparable sales up 1.6%. The company's profit fell to $186 million from $291 million the year prior. The company said it was continuing to see strong sales in August, driven by back to school events and projected similar comparable sales growth for the third quarter. Finally, CrowdStrike Holdings swung to a second quarter loss and guided for lower third quarter revenue than Wall Street anticipated, while lifting its full-year adjusted earnings outlook. Yesterday, the cybersecurity company posted a quarterly loss of $77.7 million compared with a profit of $47 million in the same quarter a year earlier. Revenue was up 21% at $1.17 billion for the second quarter. For the third quarter, CrowdStrike said it expects revenue of 1.21 to $1.22 billion.
