South Korea has developed public sauna in comparison to any other countries, because Korea suffered poverty in 1960 and people were unable to take a hot shower very often. The Korean government originally invested its budget in establishing the public bath for Korean citizens. However, the popularity of public bath gradually decreased as anyone can take a hot shower in their house.
Korean people converted the bath culture to entertaining place, where people can swim, take a bath, sleep, read, eat and relax. Korean people called this place as Jjimjilbang, which means big sized public bath.
As I was a high school student, I asked my parents to give me a permission to stay in the place with friends.
Imagine a place that you can do whatever you want. You can relax in a hot tuff and swim in a swimming pool. After enjoying water activities, you relieve stress in many different hot and cold sauna rooms. Once you finish hanging out there, you can eat delicious foods that will energize you again.
Since the price is usually under $10, people use the facility during rainy day or after people drink until late time to sleep.
Now that Jjimjilbang only exists in South Korea, it will be really unique experience for you.
